I understand people's hesitancy to give up a pick for a guy like Peyton. Especially a 1st. But you can't have it both ways. You either save your pick at 24 and give it a go with the same undisciplined head coach. Or you get a guy that can get the most out of his players.

"oh but he only won one SB with a HOF QB". Well he's been to two other NFC championship games. Should have gone to another SB if not for one of the worst no calls in NFL history (2018 no call against the rams). He also lost to the vikings twice in the division round (the diggs miracle catch, and the Kyle Rudolph push off). Been incredibly unlucky at times. This man had Jameis Winston playing elite last year before he got hurt. Then proceeded to almost make the playoffs with practically no qb.

This guys accomplished more than than every cowboys coach in 26 years. He's well respected and wants to come here. He can get the most out of your QB.

Payton is going to cost a lot of money and even though Jerry says he will do anything and sign a big check for a Super Bowl that doesn’t mean he’d sign coach when he’s already got a perfectly good coach under contract.

I'm surprised that some on this board still don't know that little detail about Prescott's contract. He ain't going anywhere he doesn't WANT to go. And as for Payton? I live in Louisiana and Payton is revered here. He is highly unlikely to leave a situation where he is the total BOSS for a situation where he'd merely be a puppet. 2023...2026...it doesn't matter. Fans should disabuse themselves of this funky fantasy. It ain't gonna happen.

Peyton Apparently loves the Jones family and Dallas. You have two issues in the playoff game. Coaching and the QB. Wouldn't you jump on a guy that could fix both? Peyton is...

Help get the most out of your QB.

We are not winning anything with Mccarthy and dak combo. One year from now we'll be sitting here saying the same thing were saying now. Even if dak didn't improve. Just by simply getting a better coach we win the 49er game. You get Sean Peyton I'd guarantee we'd still be playing. That costs me the 24th pick I'm doing it.

They have......signed Kellen Moore......and he gave you the #1 offense in the league...and it's still not good enough. Problem was...McCarthy didn't have this team ready to play.....and they have been undisciplined his entire tenure.
They were not the #1 offense in the league sir. Definitely not since the Denver game. I don't really believe that yds/game accurately captures how great an offense is...and you also have to take into account the contribution of points by the defense. In DVOA they were 8th best. Beatdowns against the NFC East skewed how good they actually were...otherwise they would've taken care of the Cardinals and the 49ers at home, where they were averaging nearly 40 points per game.

Don't even get me started on Kellen Moore. I promise you this. If you expect the nexus of Prescott, McCarthy and Moore to deliver next year you are going to be in for a rude awakening. If I had my way right now I'd get rid of McCarthy and (especially) Moore. Both are pass happy offensive guys, which is why they were abandoning the run down the stretch and in the playoffs. And if Prescott was checking out of run plays it's even worse. Prescott is not a guy you can have throwing the ball 44 times per game. His footwork is a mess...his anticipation is a mess...his belief in his arm is a mess...he holds the ball either too long or is too quick to dump it off. Kellen Moore is a man of scheme...not of players...which is why Lamb had one catch in playoff game for all the marbles. The two of them together are something approaching toxic. His voracious penchant for S11 personnel and running out of it is something right out of the Jason Garrett era.

The NFL is a tight-window business and right now Prescott is gun shy. He is risk averse by nature (as I've stated ad nauseum) and doesn't trust himself to make the money throws he needs to make in tight games vs. the upper echelon teams.

A year to get through MM and Zeke. Might be a good time for a sabbatical. I feel like next, year,is going to be a waste of time. Like this year but worse..

if he wanted to come here how come he signed an extension with the saints that goes through 2026 at 9 mill per year

Guys is this what cannabis does or is it a stronger drug ? I’m not judging , heck by the looks of it I might need some. You have to be on drugs to think Sean Payton is coming to the cowboys .
The main reason it would not happen is because it would steal credit from Jerry if successful . Jerry would not hire a great coach…ever.

Cause he still had a chance to win with Brees. I mean I'd see that through as well. I'm fairly sure he knows next year he's not winning with his current team.

The rumors out there are Jerry loves him. Hell JJ has been trying to find the next Sean Peyton since he left. Thats why we he kept garret and why he's putting so much stock in KM.

Also the whole notion "nobody would want to come here". Its still an attractive job whether people won't to admit it or not. The chance to get the cowboys back to the SB would be a nice part of someones legacy.

well i don't think he can just quit the saints and come here , there is that pesky contract deal. every time garrett was on the last year of his deal these payton rumors would start and nothing ever happened except new deals with the saints.

What next? Tomlin also coming here?

McCarthy, Tomlin, and Payton ALL get similar criticisms: They got a Super Bowl trophy but there should have been more. They are all on the same level.

The list of coaches I've seen on this board is a long one , Gruden , Cowher , Meyer , College coaches galore , Jimmy repeat and even Bellycheat.

Listen I’m not saying I want to give up a pick to get the guy. But I truly think t he only way this team wins is to upgrade the qb. Or go to a coach that can get the most out of the qb. I’d rather have scenario 2 happen than just run the same guys out there again this year.

Your ppl want to bring back a guy who’s team led the league in penalties and admitted they were nervous before a game. And the o coordinator who had 0 identity second half of the year?

I just feel it’s more of the same. We’ll be sitting here next year with the same BS happening
