I guess Cowboys loss isn’t so bad now?

Now that we apparently lost to a better team in playoffs.

Packers loss today should secure McCarthys job and shed some light on our season this year.

Turns out we were probably closer to 6th best team in NFC and over achieved with 3 seed. Good job!
until the defense gets better and we have a true franchise qb this is what we will be

I don't think the GB loss to 49ers changes any feelings even the slightest of last week's loss to the miners.
The cowboys were riding on hype apparently all year, unprepared, and this seems to always be prolonged and protected by those at the top who seem to use similar logic presented here to defend this continual lack of performance, it is a cultural thing that has permeated this team for way too long

I still don't know why the play was to Cedrick Wilson of all people with the season on the line. Schultz, Pollard, Lamb, Cooper. Those are your playmakers, put the ball in their hands and let them go to work. Don't trust your #4 WR to come through in such a big moment.
Dak made another panic throw. He missed open guys numerous times during the game. Schultz appeared to be open most of the game.

I know your stand. I said I respect you. But you know as well as I do that the problem in Dallas is not the Talent. It's not good to make some delusional fans think that San Francisco winning yesterday is somehow good for us. I too am for keeping Dak next season because he's a good quarterback and you don't replace those unless you have someone better. But we have people on this board celebrating like it is some kind of victory for us that the 49ers beat Green Bay and starting to believe that it means Dak > Rodgers.
No, it’s not a victory but it does better punctuate we were probably beaten by a better overall team. A team that is just two years removed from a Super Bowl. What have we done besides running it up on lesser teams this year in regular season.

Just because we have some talent in key positions doesn’t mean our weaknesses can’t be exposed by another teams strengths .

And it supports those of us who saw the matchups coming in as a problem for us. It’s as I said going into playoffs with so many high expectations which I argued were unfounded with our record this year whooping up on average to less than average teams. And there would be no shame losing to better teams in the playoffs.

We have seen this play out over the years with this QB and team struggling against better defenses and teams . But this hype often perpetuated by our dysfunctional ownership and even the media is heavily consumed by our fanbase and makes the fall even greater. Don’t tell me you bought into the hype as well?

The defense would be good enough to win if the Cowboys had a decent running attack and a play caller who wasn't looking for redemption every play.
Our defense while much improved this year was still below average statistically. Yes we led the league in turnovers but without those we were left vulnerable in some games .

SF scores on every possession in 1st half except for running out the clock. And with over 7 minutes left we couldn’t make a stop. If not for an overturn of a 1st down and then a penalty on them we wouldn’t have had a last gasp desperate effort .

No, with our average to above average QB and lack of running game we need a more dominant defense if we want to be serious contenders.

A defense which holds the #1 offense to 17 points and arguably the greatest QB in conference of this era to only 10 points. That’s what can get you to a conference championship.

How does GB losing make our loss any less bad? Bottom line is we lost and for now haven't sniffed a SB in over a quarter of a century. Who gives a rats that GB lost to the team that beat us.

What a sad and pathetic fan base we have become. The mental gymnastics is sad to behold. Clinging to other teams successes to get over our losses.

Pathetic.

We can’t hold this particular team solely responsible for the lack of success this era. Many of these current players weren’t even born when this awful era of Cowboys football begin. That responsibility lies at the feet from the one constant throughout in our dysfunctional ownership.

You’ve either not followed my narrative over the season closely or misreading my intent with this thread. This is not an excuse .

I’ve maintained this team had been over hyped and expectations were too high this season . And there’s no shame losing to better teams.

And I’ve shot it down waving warning flags with the hype. I think it’s also important to call out the extremes on the other side too. Unless you bought into the hype there was little evidence to believe this team was going far in the playoffs.

The Cowboys still played sloppy football with lousy time management and way too many penalties. I have to respect the 49ers. They've earned their success. If you had told me that the 49ers would score just 13 points against Green Bay, I would have said, "Sounds about right. They're getting blown out." They played some insanely good defense to be able to beat Green Bay with only 13 points. Great special teams play also made a huge difference. Makes me think they might beat the Rams or Bucs.

If the Cowboys had played a great game, but came up short against a better team, I could accept the loss more. But they played an incredibly stupid game, and that asinine QB draw at the end just put an exclamation point on it.

Sure but I think the strength of our opponent played a part in exposing our weaknesses.
perhaps, but you can't deny 7 pre-snap penalties. missed blocks, bad play calls. inaccurate throws....all, shooting yourself in the foot....opportunity was there...we screwed ourselves.

I see this season as proof that regardless of how much talent this team can assemble, Jerry will always manage to render it impotent.
when he tells the OC that you report to me if the coach doesn't like your plays and he goes into business with the players, blurring lines of authority and insists on going to the sideline or give locker room speeches...yeah...you would be right

You know I didn't. I used the Cardinals game as a measuring stick which was the closest we got to a playoff game in the regular season. I also disagree about there being no shame to losing to "better" teams in the playoffs, because part of what makes them better is the attitude/culture the team has in the playoffs that makes them live up to their potential. With no leadership, talent goes to waste.

Oh our loss was bad because our offense did it’s typical no show.

Also, keep in mind Nick Bosa and Fred Warner got knocked out of the game and we still couldn’t move the ball.

It’s embarrassing GB lost. That had about two sure fire 2 six picks they missed.

On that third snd 3, 70 yard pass, the receiver slowed down and cut inside right into the safety, even though he just needed to stay towards the sideline. That’s when they missed the FG.

That being said, the 49ers RG is tailor made for this type of ugly, physical, messy sun-freezing game. They are not made for playing in a dome with back up secondaries for a legit QB

The Packers lost because of special teams, wr got outplayed the whole game.

I haven't been on the fire McCarthy band wagon, although I would understand if Jerry decided to fire him. But you can't compare last night's game to the 49ers-Cowboys game. The Cowboys enjoyed good weather, comfortable temperatures and a perfect field to play on. The Packers were clearly hurt by the cold, snow and wind at Lambeau. Last night's game between the 49ers and Packers was all about the weather conditions, not about sloppy, undisciplined, stupid football.

I have no doubt that if Rodgers had the same conditions to play in as the Cowboys he would have had a few TDs and a lot more points. The special teams mistakes would not have mattered much.
