What’s D-Law’s true value? Opinions?

I like the guy. Like him as a run defender.

But I feel like he's only the 3rd best pass-rusher on the team. And--with the resources available to us (limited cap room and a draft pick that won't be high enough to get a really good pass-rusher)--I think losing Lawrence is the more manageable option.

I'd rather be out from under Lawrence's contract, avoid losing our 2nd best pass-rusher in Gregory, and in the market for a good run-defending DE to plug into Lawrence's role.

As opposed to needing to replace the 2nd best pass-rusher (who, oh by the way, will actually need to function as our best pass-rusher half the time while Micah is off doing linebacker things, if we believe the team isn't blowing smoke about having no plans to pivot and make Parsons a full-time pass-rusher) while remaining handcuffed to Lawrence's contract.

DFlaw is an average to good run stopper. His pass rush is below average.

He had some good games at the end of this season but only because he was surrounded by elite/good (Parsons, Gregory) talent and was able to have 1:1 matchups.
He is not an elite player who is able to make others better. He is a player who needs elite support to show up. Without that he disapears.
He is not able to beat good OTs 1:1 on a constant basis (run or pass). With elite talent around him this year he got more TEs 1:1 which he was able to beat.

I would pay him not more than 7 mils/year.

But then i see him as a cancer for our locker room. He is a businessman first, football player second. That brings the wrong culture to a team, from which i expect top have a winning and football first attutude.
He also is more hurt then on the field.

So i would have never drafted him nor signed him to a sec contract. I would cut him as soon as possible.
Lol cancer. He’s the leader of the D and gives 110 percent. U may not like his edge but the players respect him

Just read an article on blogging the boys stating Dallas would save $35 million by releasing or trading Cooper and Lawrence. The question is will Jerry and Stephen use the cap space to bring in free agents? Interesting to see what happens.

I agree but when putting together the cap it is not just a 1 year venture they have to look 2, 3 years down the line. I can promise you when Diggs comes up for FA that will not be cheap same with Parsons.

Being the leader of historically bad Cowboy defenses and having the respect of the Hot Boyz is not exactly what I am looking for. Parsons came in and within 8 games showed what a true leader and a true professional looked like.

He disappears. Go disappear and wind up on another team. I'd rather pay Dorrance Armstrong.

Zilch! Hot boyz no more. Cowboys definitely overpaid him in 2019 based on his production, or lack thereof. Looking at Lawrence's stats & the amount of money he makes, one could justifiably say that Lawrence has one of the worst contracts in the NFL.

I personally value stopping the run almost as much as sacks. D law is amazing against the run. His run def alone is worth 8 million. His sack production is honestly worth 4 million. He’s worth 12. I’d like to see him line up for a whole year with parsons rushing. He can get 10-12 sacks

I would say around 12 million. Certainly not 27 million. Man do they know how to overpay players.

His value is 3 year minimum in my opinion, plays the run,, Golston can do that and l would draft a DE and move on from him..
