I’m sure the cowboys could have done that

They won't be winning much if they have to start cutting guys to get under the salary cap and they have no draft picks to replace them.
Cap-wise, the Rams are in better shape than the Cowboys, Packers, Vikings, and Saints...to name a few.

Whitworth will retire...freeing up 17 mil

Ask yourself this question, was Kupp as productive under Goff as he is with Stafford? The answer is "NO!". Stafford is willing to go to Kupp when he's double covered, singled, or in zone. Dak doesn't do that with Cooper.

Taking out last year because the Rams had a lot of other issues Krupp had year over year growth every year he was in the NFL. Cooper, regardless who has thrown him the ball, has multiple nothing seasons.

I get this is a case of “we like our guys” and history has shown you can get an average WR to 1200 yards receiving if you force it,but that isn’t what matters. Krupp isn’t the best because he puts up numbers; he is the best because he can beat his man consistently.

No way Dak gets his $40M per year contract without Cooper. He made a lousy QB look average.

I mean he could not make Carr look average so history says you are wrong about Dak because Carr is also not lousy. Cooper now with 2 QBs has a career trajectory of looking good at the start and then falling off hard once he gets complacent. Meanwhile we can look at Dak 2 years ago when the entire team was falling apart around him and the offense was still number 1 in the league and that also tells us something.

I think the Rams have some big free agents though and no draft capitol...none of that matters now, they got what you need to get when your mortgage the future...its officially genius moves made.

Why was I cursed to being a diehard fan as a child?

To quote Scout Barry from Money Ball:

"We're all told at some point in time that we can no longer play the children's game, we just don't... don't know when that's gonna be. Some of us are told at eighteen, some of us are told at forty, but we're all told. "

Which is another way of saying, our child naivety made us believe the party would last forever.
