Would have been more fun to blow it all on rides and bling. Pick up a tab for 20 every night.

Clearly his priorities are warped.
Every person wasn't born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth, with two fathers, on the safe side of town, with parents/parent with a clear understanding of life, goals, education. Everyone 'ain't you'. So instead of criticizing those NOT like you , we should educate them, and if they decide not to listen, then so be it. But I get it, you live for "likes" and to look down on others.

From what I've read, being a Chic Fil A franchisee sucks. You can't own the real estate, can't sell your franchise. You basically have a nice paying job, and that's it.

We are friends with the guy that owned the first one in Ft. Worth in Hulen Mall in 80s. Brothers all worked there. He then had first free standing one off Bryant Irvin. These guys live an incredibly nice life. Another friend from law school ..his brother runs one in Las Colinas and same thing. Who needs the things you listed if you are making money hand over fist and can enjoy life?

They are very hands on though snd always helping at their stores

According to an article I read a while back, 70% of NFL players are broke two years after they leave the league. The average career in the NFL is 3.6 years

Young players should see the league for what it is , financially speaking. It can be a tremendous opportunity to jump start your financial history by providing security for a lifetime.

Unfortunately, too often, it is five years of a lavish lifestyle followed by a lifetime of financial struggle and profound regret.

Dat Nguyen retired from the Cowboys in 2006, at least as a player. He was an assistant linebacker coach until 2010 when he left the Cowboys and the NFL for the final time. He had a brief stint as a linebacker coach at Texas A&M that ended in 2010. He went on to co-host a sports talk radio show on ESPN San Antonio but that was also short-lived. In 2016, Nguyen bought a Chick Fil-A in Fort Worth, Texas. He operates his restaurant like a football team as Nguyen states, “I am the coach. We have coordinators and we have players. It’s no different than football. Everyone has a position they are responsible for.” Nguyen prefers the stability that being a business owner provides over coaching. It gives him time to spend with his family—wife, 3 daughters, and twin boys. Nguyen also has investments in real estate and insurance. Nguyen’s net worth is about $7 million, though that varies according to the site, but it is fair to say he has earned every bit of it through hard work.

Good on Nguyen. All the best!

I dunno.
I would spend lavishly on drink and nightclubs and girls. Lots of girls. After me appointed 3.6 years I would hold out for ... $10 million a year job at ESPN or hosting the BET Peoples' Awards.

I'm worth close to that as a retired educator.....and I haven't worked in 5 years... thought he would be doing a bit better. Nonetheless, good for him for taking care of his family and living a good life. SALUD!

Jiminey socks! I hope you report that income from skinning and tanning hides at your unincorporated place. Even the javalinas and ox hides.

I have known managers and lots of employees. I haven't heard working there sucks, either. The ones I know all seem to speak good about the place even when they've moved on to other things.

You have to tip your hat off to Dat. The league is littered with terrible stories like...there is just too many players to name, but all you have to do is google these phrases. "NFL players who went broke" and "NFL player who were incarcerated".

For those who like stats.

The US incarceration rate for the general public is 0.63%. For NFL players it is 7%.

The US bankruptcy rate for the general public is 0.17%. For the NFL is 78%.

We should applaud and celebrate those who are able to transform a life changing opportunity in the NFL into something good for them and their families.

After all is this not the American dream?
Wow a 78% bankruptcy rate? That boggles the mind. Not doubting you, but it's hard to believe 4/5s of ALL NFL players are that bad with their finances. Or maybe it was 7.8%, not 78.

Solid dude.
Hate that his career was cut short by injury.

I'm almost positive you have to work in the Chik-fil-A for some time period to become an owner, so that would have been a hoot to drive up to the window and have Dat take your order lol
You have to work in when you own one too
They are very profitable franchises but they don’t want absentee owners

Have to remember most nfl players have very short careers
Some bounce around a few years on PS for various teams
But it’s not 78% who file BK but that includes those who fall into financial difficulties

It's nuts cause he looks nothing like a football player last time I saw a picture of him.

Got a custom jersey of his years ago.
