Someone asked me this and I stumbled over the answer before concluding what should have been obvious....

Most Cowboys fans see it as an injustice that Jimmy Johnson in not in the teams ROH.

We can also likely agree this is all about ego...

How would you feel if Jerry relented and agreed to induct him, but at the same time the current ROH is from then on officially known as "Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys Ring Of Honor?"

It's not a great question and of course Jimmy has to be more patient if that were the case.....

It was mentioned to me and it kinda stuck that a stunt like that from Jerry is entirely possible.

Jerry will place himself in the Ring of Honor before Jimmy goes in. Pure ego. No way Jerry could stand seeing JJ’s name in the ROH and his own name not there. It would be like Jerry admitting that Jimmy could have done it without him.

Jimmy never should have disrespected his boss at the owners meetings. The man who puts food on your table you should say ty to. Jimmy will get in, but it is totally at the discretion of the Boss. Jimmy was an Employee, nothing more. Sometimes employees think that they should be in control and running things, tough noogies. Go start your own business. Ty…

It seems to me that if Jerry was serious about putting Jimmy in the ROH, he would have done so by now. I think Jerry still resents Jimmy for getting the credit that he always felt belonged to him. His passion for being seen as a "football guy" is still what makes him tick. Some things never change! ;)

where's the whine feast guy? is he tired of hearing this too, and does it matter one way or the other if he puts him in today or 50 years from now.

Jimmy, Jerry, or both, will be dead before that happens (if it ever happens).

Forget what Jerry said in August. He said what he had to say in the moment, being put on the spot on live TV. It wasn't a planned announcement.
Regardless, I am still grateful Terry Bradshaw (and Troy Aikman to some extent) publicly questioned Jones to his face on live television. Narcissist do not enjoy being put on notice and thinking up excuses on the spot. That is exactly how any media member with a microphone and/or camera should have been treating Jones every single day since the Jones/Johnson split about any subject relating to owner and general manager issues.

Messing with a narcissist's mindset is pretty much the only way to modify their traits. As far as the Ring of Honor is concerned, very few (if any) with media access to Jones has not repeated the same in-your-face questioning since last August. And so, as always, Jones is left feeling complacent within his own comfort zone on the topic.

His boat is called three rings, because we won two rings in the NFL and one at the University of Miami. But he did not win three SB. The team he built won 3 SB's, but Jimmy didn't.

Jerry doesn't want to put Jimmy in the ring of honor, until he wins a SB without Jimmy's finger prints on it.
Even then that's not a sure bet that will happen.
I refer you to post #8 (mine). My scenario on it plays out.

Jerry does not live rent free in Jimmy Johnson's mind but I would say it's quiet the opposite.
It could be that the worst day in Jerry’s life was the day he’s heard Jimmy was elected to the HOF. In JJs mind, his HOF election now probably takes a backseat to Jimmy’s. Because Jerry is in the hall as a “contributor”. Jimmy is in as head coach. It’s obvious who the real “football man” is.
