I don't really know anything about the player except the penalties so I gave them a D. We need less penalties, not more!

F or F - how ever low I can go

they obviously did not go with BPA. That was Linderbaum and he fell right to Dallas. A position Cowboys need to upgrade. A plug and play all-pro. Instead they draft a project at best with penalty issues.. He was a mid 2nd round grade. I get tackles were coming off the board and he wouldnt be there for their next pick. But you do not reach on 1st round picks. That is how Cowboys always screw up. You take the safe top player.

This is the worst off-season I can remember

Not to belabor things but you can’t coach size, natural strength, and a mean disposition. While they should have traded down and drafted Smith later he does possess traits that can make him a star. The OL badly needs more snarl. He will provide that.
It was already reported a team wanted to trade up with the Cowboys and after their pick said lucky u didn't trade down because he was the guy they wanted.

C

I think they reached. I don't care how strong he is. His 16 penalties, 11 accepted along with reports that he has no technique tell me he will be an issue. This is a guy you draft in round 2 not round 1. There were better proosects available and that's why the grade is a C.

Compare to OT From fcs level UNI.....Penning
Both have a nasty streak, Raw technique, both have nfl size
Penning was not absolutely dominant at FCS level
Saints took him at 19

Teams other than Dallas will draft on potential...

I would grade it uninspired. But, now it is prove it time. first round picks need to be blue chip quality players who help your team for a while.

I gave it a D. they could have traded down and pick up another mid round pick. and he is going to replace Williams...who we all hated because he had penalty issues. now this guy had 16 penalties in 12 games IN COLLEGE, what do you think is going to happen to him in the NFL going up against DTs that run as fast as TEs did at Tulane!!!!

B for addressing the need and D for reaching for the need so I give a C. I would have taken Johnson the DE who is coming in with a nasty attitude lasting that long.

He's the opposite of Martin as a rookie who was ready to step in and play at a high level. He is rough around the edges but he is stronger than Williams but they will have to coach him how to play G in the NFL and hold and get by with it.

I am not sure they stepped up or to the side at LG with this pick but their other choices, regardless of what the mouth says, were gone and they would have had to move up.

I think the way this draft moved caught a lot of teams flat footed, it was crazy and I was laughing at Greenberg with his head on a swivel watching the pick is in sign.

How many teams actually took the entire 10 minutes?

I gave it a C because this pick was forced by their lack of aggressiveness in FA.

All the talk about not having any immediate needs was total nonsense.

I have the pick a C. Cowboys could have traded back a few spots and likely still get him. As for the player? I like him, he was playing tackle but in Dallas he will play guard, the man is a road grader in run blocking and unlike Williams do not see him getting pushed back. Kid is strong and nasty and putting him on the inside I think will help out a lot

I'll have to see who we draft in the 2nd round to feel better about this pick. He could be some amazing hidden gem, but I'm leaning towards this draft being more of that LVE/ Trystan Hill type of draft year where we are gambling on project players who have great measurables to fill out needs. This doesn't remind me of that Micahl Parsons/ CeeDee Lamb with Diggs type of draft. We created too many holes in FA, so we'll see a lot more 'reach picks' to plug into holes this year.

He's not a thrill, but you're unlikely to get those at 24.

On paper, he's a very good fit for our needs on the oline now and in the future. Not another Tyron, but Tyrons don't grow on trees, nor do they last to 24.

But I don't like the undisciplined red flags as a player, and don't like the attitude he's projecting in his NFL profile pick. Attitude matters. The attitude you chose to project matters. Reminded me of Taco's Cowboy profile pick.

they said and were supposed to go Bpa, and I dont think any will say he was the BPA.
That was a need pick and a project pick, and not a day 1 starter.

Round one you should always get a day 1 starter and bpa.
If you cant do that, trade back and get another pick or 2.

Will be better with straight ahead blocking. But that's not all you need from a G. Probably won't be as good pulling, or in pass protection.

Also has a problem with penalties, so he may not even reach the low hanging fruit of beating Williams there.

"He's a penalty waiting to happen" ~ Mel Kiper............. Unbelievable draft another drive killer but he'll fit right in with our band of idiots plus when I watched the highlight tape that they showed I was like ok where is the dominance. Jerry should have traded down 5 or 6 spots and they still could have gotten this guy..... Grade D-

I love the kids athletic ability and his ability to get to the 2nd level. I'm not concerned with him pulling

BPA available at position of need.

I expect him to start at LG. Who else? They don't like McGovern, and have nothing behind him.

Hope McGovern is working the jugs machine to be our Jumbo TE/FG.
