Until proven otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if this upcoming season will end up like the others.
Cowboys will beat all of the sub par teams on the schedule, lose to most if not all playoff contending teams, win the NFC East, lose early in the playoff to a legitimate playoff team.

Me dear wayward lad . . . So true. 26 years. I will play along with Jerry and the Boys, but I shall not be fooled again until we replace that Dak-Zeke clown act and get a QB who will throw the ball far, far downfield in a land we once called The Vertical Game.
Danger ahead, old boy.
*The O line is in flux
*The WR corps is less than 2021
*Zeke is racing downhill
*Pollard, in his last contract year, sits
*Dak is hot and cold and panicky. He remains Dak.

What could possibly go wrong in 2022 ?????

You sound like you're talking about an 8-8 Garrett team instead of a 12-5 McCarthy team. Oh believe me I share the desire for a SB, or at least deeper in the playoffs than 1 & done just like you do, but then 12-5 isn't exactly the end of the world either.
A lot of teams would love to see 12-5. A lot of those team's fans would've loved to see 12-5. But then they're obviously not Cowboy fans.

Better than Garrett 8-8

I'd rather be 5-12 than 8-8....give me bad or give me good, but mediocre with no shot of a big turn around with a high draft sucks...

Those three years with Garrett 8-8 getting knocked out in the last game by each nfce team was worse than a good year and a couple bad ones...

We lost Cooper and Randy.
Don't forget other teams added talent through the draft as well.
Some teams even believe in adding marquee talent via free agency.
Imagine that!
If you're a Cowboy fan you have to Imagine it
It ain't no reality round here:(

The 'rinse and repeat' would have meant we'd have restructured Coop and re-signed Gregory. That would have kicked the can and would repeat the problem in 2023 as our CAP situation (Taking into account the La'el addition and the Coop /Randy contracts) would be....in CAP deficit of about $30m (even if we released both Coop and Gregory we'd still be $27m over).

At some time you have to reset and stop the 'rinse and repeat', we did it this year (granted as much by accident as by design), we are left with an inferior roster, but it's younger and something to decent to build on......and with a chance of the play-offs in 2022.

I think deep down we all know the answer to this…

If the OL can get back to a level that allows us to run the ball effectively and the D continues to improve then we have a really good shot. If we are relying on the arm of the QB , then our odds are not as good. We need to protect our 40 mil QB from having to win games with his arm. He just isn’t that guy. But if we can get Zeke to 1400 plus yards I think we have as good a chance as anyone.

Good, we should have more consistent WR play, and Gregory won't be jumping offsides for us anymore. I like Williams and Tolbert btw. I think we got upgrades with them.

I agree with the first part. Dallas will beat up on the sub-par teams but I don't think they win the division. The Cowboys need a lot to go right to win the division again.

All this optimism about guys like Josh Ball, Tyler Smith, De Williams and Jalen Tolbert is just offseason wishful thinking. We have no idea how these guys will play until they face real opponents. I will be shocked if they all pan out.

Only way I know to have success in post season is by reaching post season on a regular basis. You can have a great team and not make it to the show, asked 13-4 GB #1 seed. Cowboys have failed to return to post season in back to back seasons, that must change this season.

With Dak Prescott at QB = yes.
Entering his 7th season he isn't going to suddenly improve out of recognition. He's a mid tier QB anything around 11-16 in the league without elite talent surrounding him in every position to carry the team so it will be the same story as recent years. The usual suspects will be waxing lyrical when he feasts on the Giants then blame the weather, his glove (or lack thereof), o-line or defense for only securing 2 takeaways when being exposed against a good team.

yah, depends. If its an up and coming young team, then 8-8 on the way up isn't bad, but sure. If your not going to be great, get a high draft pick.

Cowboys are going through a rebuild. The defense is almost complete finally, WR corps is rebuilt, Oline just started, RB's will be next. So if we can continue to win the division, make the playoffs and get younger, thats fine for now. Getting rid of all the bad contracts with only Zeke left to go. Going into 2023 I think the real window begins if they can do things right.
