The responses in this thread have the Jerry apologist society upset.
That society only exists in your wishful mind. Jerry isn't popular enough for that to occur -- not now, nor ever! :lmao2:

You are right, but remember the salary cap is only going to increase. So Dak's future payments won't take up quite as much room as they appear right now.
Doesn't matter. Bad negotiation. Bad contract. I would be able to stomach Dak's inadequacies and being avg if he wasn't paid like the best QB in the league. Team could put some pieces around him to prop him up.

I’d love a swing tackle
Just really worried about moving smith in and out as a rookie and none of the other tackles have taken an nfl snap. But I’m guessing they wait till they see what ball, Wally and smith can do. I’d just rather smith learned guard this year then work him in tackle next camp but that doesn’t appear to be the plan

TB just signed Akeem Hicks to play beside Vita Vea.

Dak can’t be liking that.

I would love to get Julio Jones on a solid deal. He did play for Quinn

Here's a sobering thought. Dak is a 50M cap hit next year if they don't restructure his contract, and with the roll over money he can easily fit under the cap. I'm not even counting what we'll save from Zeke, which won't be that much anyway. It wouldn't be anywhere near easy for a team stacked with talent.

Today is June 1st which means the Cowboys officially have $23,347,764 in cap space due to the release of La'el Collins.

Free agent signing coming soon?

Keep it so you can cut Dak and Zeke.

Dak is not going anywhere, room has been been made and the red carpet for success has been rolled out.
Might even be rose petals randomly dropped.

Barring injury they are probably done signing anyone. They are certainly done signing any big names.

Even as a CAP WORRIER, we're in decent CAP scenario in 2023 and 2024 (even with Dak increase and possible extensions). I cant see us spending much of the $23m space we've got, put the onus on this young roster and look to make deals at the trading deadline. Looking at OVERTHECAP.COM there are plenty of teams that are in CAP HELL in 2023 that'll be in a position to offload at the deadline....if we're prepared to pay the salary we wont have to give up picks.

My point was, if you're QB is taking up 22% of the cap, and you can easily fit him under the cap, how good can the team be around him? These aren't the 2007 Cowboys. Don't expect too much.

When your QB is taking 22% of the cap and his play is average that is even worse!

Does anyone know what Stephen meant when said we were not done in free agency after the draft?
Asking for a friend.

He meant what he said, but he did not say when or how much.

I always figured it would be after OTA's and mini camps, right before TC or a few weeks into TC.
Like last year, hooker was not brought in until TC started.
I am really not concerned over it.

My point is ....take a look around the NFL, salaries are rising (along with CAP allowance). There's no CAP issue in 2024, and even 2023 can be overcome with 'the carryover', release of Zeke (and maybe Tyron).
The Dak contract isn't an excuse for forthcoming years.

Thanks for the clarification.
I am really nervous about our oline Depth.
We lost 2 starters and only drafted one potential starter.
We are paper thin, and don't have much proven depth.
