How much would that number increase if the boys won the Super Bowl …
Not as dramatically as you might think. They are already maximizing ticket and stadium sales . Perhaps they could add some to merchandise sales but that’s about it.

Revenue used to be tied directly to success on the field . Not as much anymore with all of the revenue streams our owner has helped to implement .

I don't know about that, Cowboys are shown nationally so often that many who are not from Texas gets the chance to see the Cowboys play and many grew up watching those nationally televised games.

I live in Jersey. I can see every Dallas game except the 1pm games on national television. During a 16 game schedule Dallas would be scheduled 4 times at 1pm. So I was able to see 3/4 of the games not living in the Dallas TV coverage area.

In 2008 I was in California and I was able to see Dallas on regular TV for the first 10 weeks of the season.

Dallas is the cash cow of the NFL.

If the NFL were starting the NFL again from scratch, Dallas would be the first team selected. They would be the cornerstone team of the league. Much like they are today.

There’s much more access this era than there was in earlier eras. My best friend lived in NYC for about 25 years working on Wall Street from early 80’s to about 2004. And there was less than half of our games on average broadcast nationally. He had to go to sports bars or a friend who had a house with satellite. Until Sunday Ticket was available.

Not much, it is about the team's ability to generate revenue and growth.

They've not done much in 26 years yet they sell out and Booger continues to raise the ticket prices. The ability of this team to generate revenue is not built on winning championships or even playoff games.

The size isn’t the reason they make more than other teams. That’s some factor but the biggest factor is they fill every seat, even on the road. But ATT stadium generates money for Jerry every week of the year whether there is a game there or it’s the off season
Owning your stadium is super important to generating huge revenue
Arlington owns the stadium Jerry rents it

Arlington technically owns it and Jerry pays about two games parking in rent. The liability is why it’s structured that way. All the revenue generated goes to Jerry and the so called rent is nothing
The rent is 2 mil a year and they get 500k from naming rights

But they still abandoned their local or regional team which every game was broadcast.

abandoned? I live in Houston, never abandoned the Oilers/Texas I was never a fan of theirs to begin with. People outside of Dallas who are fans and there are many big fans have been fans for years. Where you live has nothing to do with the team you pull for.

Easy to be a fan when you live in the same city, much harder road to go down when you are a fan living in enemy territory lol

Of course where you are from has everything to do with the franchise fans suppert. The bulk of all teams fans support comes from locals . Teams are dependent on their support.

Many like myself have never lived in Dallas. I have supported this team from 1965 to the present. I take it you live in Dallas or from Dallas? In my case where I am from had nothing to do with being a fan

Was raised in Dallas and was a Yankees fan before I became a Dallas fan We had no Baseball team in 1958 so I chose what was being shown on tv

From personal experience traveling.

When I was in California I went to the sports bar even though the game was on TV. I like to watch every game. The bar patrons rooted for their teams, but against Dallas. No matter who they rooted for.

I have also experienced this in other NFL cities. It's Dallas fans against every other franchises fans. All of them no matter where you travel.

That's why Dallas is so popular. They illicit a response from everyone.

It will be interesting to see where Denver is on this list in a few years, especially if they pull down another championship soon.

Storied franchise, one of the best cities in America to live in, new ownership, new franchise QB. They're definitely on the upswing.

-City paid $325 mill, Jerry paid 700 mill..

-Jerry pays $2m/year to rent the stadium with a lease of 30 years, and the Cowboys are required to play their home games in the stadium over this period.

-If naming rights are sold, Jerry has to pay 5% of that per year (capped at $500k) to the city

-At the end of 30 years, there are extensions available up to a total lease of 70 years (with a much lower annual rent)

-After the lease ends, the Cowboys have the option to purchase the complex from the city for $100m

-Jerry pays for all operating costs and receives all revenue. I assume this covers all events in the stadium, not just Boys game

-Jerry has to pay $500k/year for 33 years for youth sports charity

I understand but the premise of franchise success is built on the local fans supporting . They couldn’t survive if local fans and business didn’t support buying tickets, advertising and merchandise .

And this is the foundation for all professional sports, colleges and universities. Schools also rely on Alumni.

I get that but Cowboys and a few others have gone beyond just the local support. Texans for example are pretty much local fan base, Dallas, I would say Green Bay is another that goes well beyond just local support
