Did I miss something? Is there a reason this is such a negative thread? I read the article and it sounds like Vasher has had a good off-season. He really needed to in order to have any shot at making the team and it appears that he has. The comments range from "Dak sucks" to "If Vasher's the standout we are in trouble."

I have NO idea if he can be a player at this level, but I'm happy he's had a productive summer. It would be great for the Cowboys if we had a receiver unexpectedly able to contribute right out of the gate this year with Gallup potentially missing time. GO VASHER!

One thing nobody can take away from T.J. Vasher, at this point, is that he's impressed the staff with his performances in practice. :)

Surely, it remains to be seen if he's able to duplicate that success when training camp commences. He's had a fine start, though. ;)

It seems unfortunate that many of those who frequent this website are inclined to bash anyone who might be capable of success. o_O

I have a considerable number of players that I'm keeping tabs on, as well. Vasher is one of them, among many others. It's tough breaking into lineups such as those that the Cowboys already have in house. I'm sure there are some who never manage to get enough attention to qualify. It's truly a numbers game, to be sure. Oftentimes, it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Nevertheless, there's nothing wrong with pulling for those who appeal to you for whatever reasons that one might admire. I readily identify with your passion for those types of players. After all, that's what fans do. I guess every passionate fan does that. It's what makes fandom so much fun. ;)

P.S. I'd like nothing more than to see center, Alec Lindstrom win a spot, even if it's just a backup role. Perhaps on the practice squad, even.
Very well said!!!!!

Has he put on any weight? One of him primary issues is that he lacks body armor. At 6-6/215, he's going to get pushed around. Needs to add 20 lbs.

He's up to 215 from 205, which isn't much, but maybe he'll gain more, given some time.

He runs a 4.5 forty, which isn't too bad at all, for his size. He'll be good in the Red Zone.

Speed isn't the problem, it's quickness and body style. You need quickness to get open and strength/size to get off the LOS. I'm rooting for him as I do all of our players, but I don't see him making the team.

While I agree he needs to add more muscle/strength, he doesn't need to be 235 to play WR.

The tall height compromises his quickness, like so many guys who are that size.

His ace-in-the-hole is the long arms. It allows forgiveness for inaccurate passes.

The media in and around the team has been kind to him, regarding his chances.

If he continues to impress in training camp, there's no telling how he will end up.

I do have hopes for him as a downfield threat, but his straightlinishness is going to make it real tough for him.

Yep -- T.J. was Texas Tech's player of the century for a while, there! 6'5'' of a long, thin, red line! He might be our redzone target, deluxe!

We need one. We been missing one since Dez was unceremoniously dumped.

I don't doubt that at all. His height will make it tough on the DBs attempting to cover him, though.

Another thing that may affect his standing with the team is the number of talented WRs in house.

N then dumped again when they figured out he was done!!!! Don't just cherry pick, tell the whole story!!!!!

No, no-one cares about the entire story.
Yes he was on the downside, I can and will admit that.
He was never the same after his broken foot, as he tried to return too early.

I wasn't cherry picking though.

1. Dak is the 3rd play in NFL history, with 100+ td passes and 20+ rushing tds in his first four years.

2. Dak is tied for second-most game-winning drives in his first four seasons.

3. Dak is tied for most 100+ passer rating games in his first 4 seasons.

4. The Cowboys won 30+ and only loss 3 when Dak has a 100+ passer rating.

5. Dak has the sixth highest touchdown to interception rating in NFL HISTORY.

So to answer your question, yes I do watch the games. Ive seen Dak play in person between 20 to 25 games home and away. I've also seen how we look when Dak DOESN'T play. Dak isn't elite but Dak is pretty good. In this league, you don't just let go of pretty good quarterbacks. It might work for you on Madden franchise mode, but smart people know that's not a smart business decision.

He's currently ranked in the top 10 of current NFL starting quarterbacks for a reason. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.... he has around the same stats P. Manning and Drew Brees had at this same point in their careers. Did you feel those teams should have gotten rid of those QBs too?? If your answer is no, then that comes across real hypocritical.

Oh ok....
Let me know when he can beat a Cover 2 defense and can win outside of the NFC LEAST.

So, with your self proclaimed football genius. Break it down for us as to what he needs to do to improve for such coverage.
What is he and the teams REAL coaches doing wrong then? What are they missing?

You keep repeating this over and over, so explain it to us. No drive by posting it anymore, explain it.

Ok....
3 WR sets
11 personnel.
Pre-snap motion
Exploit the open field between the linebakers and safeties.
And a smarter QB

And the best way is to run the ball.

Hope that helps you understand.

I am no football genius. Just someone who played from Pee Wee to High School varsity and has an above average knowledge of the game.

When you declared he was unceremoniously dumped, you kinda did. He was released because he wasn't effective. The reasons he was let go were huge ones. He wasn't a deep threat anymore.
