Of course he's excited, he got paid, probably more than he was worth. Still glad to have him though, honestly.

I felt Armstrong gave the Cowboys some good snaps last year and was a good rotational signing. DE room is getting more crowded and there should be nice competition at RDE.

RDE, DT, and WR will bring some of the more interesting battles this preseason.

I see Golston playing the 5-tech spot with his added weight. He may spend some time as an edge DE, but I don't think it will be much unless it's a situation like short yardage where we want to go bigger all the way across the front.

They asked Gholdton to add weight to play on the interior line.

Tbh we are going to have a heavy rotation on the line, plenty of opportunities starter or not.

I think especially in the beginning, he will be a pass rush specialist with a couple guys. Didnt armstrong play a lot on first down last year anyway when Gregory was here?
Not sure on the total first down starts without looking up, maybe worthwhile, Arms did have 5 sacks last year, 12 QB hits, and 3 TFLs.
We need to see more production from him, but thats not horrible stats for situational role, and would be an extra bonus to find out if this player gets stronger with more reps.
If he performs up to a poor mans Greg Ellis that will be a wise investment on a 4th rounder.
He is young with Q's proto size at 6'4" 262lbs, he has added some needed size this offseason and this defense needs that "OLB/DE" type, I want to see Arms improve on his ground game, stopping the run consistent.
That will be his calling card for more starts, and thats what TC will start to reveal.

Still think he was over payed.
Hope he earns the contract.
I am hoping he does and pulling for him to do so.
Everybody gets overpaid, but I don't mind prepayment if it's on a decent gamble, and if Armstrong has been doing what he is supposed to be doing this offseason than I have no problem with the upside/ceiling on this player.
Invest in your draft picks, this franchise is 100 percent in on the drafting process, we all know that from FA activity being modest.
Arms put on a few pounds of bulk this offseason, lets see if that translates to edge strength and run stopping improvement.
If so, than we made a very wise early evaluation.

Really? They just gave him $6 million guaranteed. He's more than likely a game 1 starter, if not he's still going to get a bunch of snaps.
I prefer Armstrong, Williams, Golston all day every day over Gregory, and I knew Gregory had talent, but we need some consistency at RDE and this defense is overall better and deeper now.

Dorance wants a locker next to Parsons, he is currently ahead of Sam.
Armstrong
Williams
Gholston
Not so bad there when you look at the comp and depth that will be established.
We would all be shocked if Williams didnt get the starting gig.

I expect it's only a matter of time before his domination comes to light, as his development takes place.

His talent for rushing the passer is rare!!!! He a physical specimen that'll make his presence felt quickly.

That killer speed for a defensive end with his combination of strength and speed should come in handy.

I'm referring to Sam Williams, of course. In all honesty, I expect Dorance Armstrong to be rotational. ;)

When all is said and done, once we insert Micah into that rotational lineup, good things might occur! :)

Wait so y’all think Williams starts ahead of Fowler or Armstrong? I was thinking the complete opposite.

I can’t say it’s deeper or even better. Gregory was very good last year. Made some incredible plays. They were willing to give him 80 million for a reason. So I don’t know about guys in house replacing him.

I think a lot of fans just don't get that players make incredible plays without being sack machines and they're just as necessary as the ones that get all of the sacks.
