Isn't this what they did with Malik Hooker last year? Brought him in for a "look-see" and allow the medical staff to assess him. Then monitor his progress as the summer/fall before signing him.

Not upset with them using the same approach with McKinley. We'll see how his visits go with the Cardinals and other teams on his list.

Not a fan of McKinley’s… or should I say not a fan of McKinley’s head. He has good physical ability… or he did before the Achilles. But he is (or was) a head case.

Oh well, he’ll be cheap, so won’t hurt to take a look. I don’t think he’d make it though.
He was good as a rotational player as a rookie, but struggled when they gave him a bigger role. Very linier athlete with very bad change of direction. At best he is an effort rusher here, and will probably be buried

Nah the pick was Tj Watt all day. or Reuben foster. Unless your a serious scout you could have drafted Njoku.

Rueben Foster ? ... that's a new one .

According to Fish pre-draft reports the two names were TJ Watts and Packers CB (and bust) Kevin King ..and that was after ATL traded up ahead of
us to nab Takk ...

A combination of Marinelli Not big on Watt being a scheme fit ...and McClay decided to reach for Taco because of fear of no DE candidate in the 2nd round lead to one of the most disasterous 1st rd picks in Cowboys history ...

I remember getting off a plane seeing who was available and I would have picked tj. I was kind of scooped in on the lb position

DE's (five?)
1 Dlaw
2 Williams
3 Armstrong
4 Chauncey
5 Fowler

Takk ?.... Basham ? ... i don't see us carrying 6 DEs

Only thing i'm not sure of that could balance the scale for either Takk or Basham is the role of Chauncey.
Will Golston be both DE and DT..? ...utility role ala Tyrone Crawford

I know Chauncey will be is very likely to flexed on occasion as a nickel DT - I dunno what true position Golston will be listed as.

While I applaud the Cowboys efforts to sign veterans, this feels a bit like a JJ reclamation project. Great if it works out, no problem if it doesn't.

It is probably the cynic talking but JJ seems to have an overly inflated opinion of his ability to turn a player around.

Got to love that they are turning over rocks and taking risks. Now if they could just get better at mid to upper level.

Rumors at the time were that the liked Takk but we'll never know for certain if they would have picked him over Taco.

At the point of the Taco pick, it was a coin flip between him and Taco.
- They thought they could get a good CB in the 2nd.

It's become apparent since that draft that McClay preferred TJ Watt but Marinelli convinced them to draft Taco.
- In his 1st interview after that pick, Stephen Jones was shaking his head in what appeared to be regret when questioned about Watt.
- Stephen Jones: 'We really liked Watt...great player...but Rod wanted more size at that spot"

Im still having a hard time seeing how this pans out for him in Dallas barring major injury to one of the DEs ahead of him on the depth chart. I would say at best if he's healthy by December, MAYBE he's fighting Basham for very limited EDGE snaps. Maybe...

But apparently Quinn has interest so there must be a plan for him if signed....

This guy got some serious social eco issues. Hope he's got good guidance in life and football. Stereotype at it's best. Best of luck to the homie and hope he latches on to a team.

Could come down to Bohanna vs. Basham vs. Hill as the 10th lineman. I've counted Golston as a DT because I think he'll be playing the 5-tech and 3-tech roles more than 4-3 DE, but that puts us on the heavy side at DT with Golston, Gallimore, Odig, Watkins and Ridgeway, Hill and Bohanna. My prediction is that Hill is gone and either Basham or Bohanna. Believe Bohanna can be put on the PS, so it might be him unless he stands out.
