Most years, Football Outsiders' rankings of teams with the most talent under 25 years old are settled by the value of their young quarterbacks. But 2022 is different.

Joe Burrow just led the Bengals on an unexpected Super Bowl run in his second season. But after entering the league at 24 years old, Burrow already graduated from consideration in this exercise.

I wish our talent was ranked number one in “want to” and “desire.” We need players who show up every week and are committed to being the best they can be. Talent doesn’t always equate to championships. The Cowboys have had some very talented rosters that have fallen flat.

The problem with evaluations like this is they are based on individual players while football is a team sport.

An "above average" player who makes 2-3 other players around him a lot better can be worth more to a team than one star player.

I am not saying teams should not have star players, but having star players alone does not define a team's talent level.

For example, having two #1 receivers or running backs sounds amazing, but it means they will share the receptions and carries which means the team is not getting the full benefit of their talent.

I realize these types of stories are just meant to be interesting stats, but I think fans get caught up sometimes in believing the storylines even though they are not factually accurate when all of the factors are considered.

If you think these players are short on desire, you have no clue

How many years have we heard the talent level in Dallas is top notch? What are the annual results?

The usual hype and spin that enables the media to pile on the Cowboys when they inevitably fall short or fail. Then readers and viewers increase so they can all pile on the "super talented" team that can't win ever. Rinse wash repeat.

Don't get me wrong. This team drafts very, very well. They don't supplement it with big free agents and trades like the Rams, but...they draft well. But, tired of reading or hearing about all the young talent Dallas has on its roster.

We are always ranked high in our talent under 25.

It never goes anywhere because they don’t sign older free agents to bring experience and fill gaps. And then once the talented young guys gets older, they eventually get overpaid or leave.

Having a young squad is great. Sure. But it has to actually mean something on the field with wins in the playoffs.

This ranks right up there with pro bowls and how many cowboys are in the preseason top 100. All meaningless!

For reference he has the Jets at #3 so…….

But he’s right. Our young core is very talented.

Go watch the playoff game against San Francisco. You have no clue if you think that was a Cowboys team playing with desire. Practically everyone who gets paid to talk football said the team looked flat and was ready to start the offseason.

Have you forgotten that the media does this crap before every season? Propping up the Dallas squad to make them look like contenders so that they can trash them later when they flop?
