Seems like a LOT of people here are heavily invested in this guy never amounting to anything. But he followed up and outstanding performance against the Chargers with another solid outing in limited snaps last Friday. Still there's LOT of good players along that defensive front so somebody who can actually play is going to be let go.. Consensus is they keep 10 d-linemen..

DEs
Lawrence
Armstrong
Williams
Basham
Fowler?
Tafua?

DTs
Gallimore
Bohanna
Odighizuwa
Hill?
Bronson?
Golston?
Watkins?
Ridgeway?

I think Ridgeway has played his way onto the practice squad. There are whispers that Fowler has not been good in the locker room. But that's unsubstantiated. Watkins and Basham are classic "solid vets" but are they keepers with all the talented utes in the stable? Tafua was invisible Friday after a strong showing last game. He's another one headed to the PS. Either way.. gonna be interesting. Hopefully somebody makes a decent trade offer for 2-3 of these guys. You'd like to see the team rewarded for drafting well.

I am perplexed by what you are claiming here. I don't think there were very many that thought he wouldn't make the 53, especially given the names we have there. It's not like we have 2-3 super stud DTs and his roster spot was in jeopardy.

Hill is what he is. He's failed to reach the lofty status the Cowboys put on him when they used a 2nd round pick on him and raved about his potential. He's a rotational DT. That's it. Nothing wrong with that. He probably wasn't the wisest pick at that slot in the 2nd round either. But it is what it is.

When his doom was announced by the self-proclaimed experts? I will relish in this small victory then. Fine.

What doom? Were large groups of people claiming he wouldn't even make the 53?

Are the Jerry fan boys so desperate to defend him that you'll claim Hill's making the 53 justifies the Cowboys taking him in the 2nd round?

There was no rational reason for anyone to think he wasnt going to make the roster

He's looked good. I personally did not think of him at all coming into camp. Lucky with health...late bloomer? I have no idea but he does look like he can help my team and that is all I care about.

Is he really even a late bloomer given that he just turned 24 this spring? I think the thing that keeps getting forgotten with him is that he was drafted a month after his 21st birthday with well documented maturity issues (I know shocking for a 20 year old to have maturity issues) but also needing time to replace some baby fat with man-muscle. I think he has done the latter and by all accounts has grown up some in the head too. He's got a pretty good physical toolset and a very high motor. I think if he can keep his head straight he will be the best DT on this team.

He's going into his 4th season, he's had more than enough time to show something

Not really.
Marinelli screwed him up his rookie season.
Then he had 2 years of injuries. But when he was healthy he flashed some signs of why he was drafted.
2nd round was too high, they could have gotten him in the 3rd. Would that make some feel better then?

He has had a good TC and the coaches have said so. Let's see what he can do. Then maybe it is time to move or, or not.

Nothing like going into your contract year that will give you a good kick in the arse to begin showing something. My biggest fear is having another Tyrone Crawford on our hands. Couldn't wait to finally get rid of him and his big contract.

Crow for what? He looked good for the first time in his career this preseason, against guys who aren't going to be in the league.

What are we eating crow for, exactly?

Wake me up when he performs against legit NFL offensive lineman.
