Broaddus says when you dig in to the tape you see a lot of ugly play. Holds, bad feet etc.

Only wish Jerry would hire him as full time GM.

Absolutely.

The guy who gave us that Osa/Golston/Wright 3rd round, 1st round picks on Taco and Vander Esch, 2nd rounders on Trysten Hill and Jaylon Smith and a recent 3rd rounder on a WR who can't even get on the active roster on a team with no WRs, definitely needs to be elevated to GM stat.

We are blessed to have him.

Here’s a good video breaking down the line including Smith against Cincy, and I have to say it’s just remarkable. Smith did not have good tape at tackle in college even against fairly poor competition. He showed every major flaw you can exhibit at tackle. I thought he would struggle mightily this year. And yet somehow he’s performing not just well but exceptionally well.

No it’s not. He was drafted in the 1st round. If you paid attention to preseason and camp he was mauling people.

Yep, needs to work on his technique and footwork. His power and punch let's him get away with lots of stuff.

But for long term success he needs to play and just dominate at LG so he can focus on his fundamentals in a smaller area first.

Move him back to LT after full off season of honing technique and footwork.

Do not trust Philbin, more likely he ruins him for next OL coach.

All true. Nobody thought he would be able to make this kind of impact even at G , let alone OT. We were just hoping he wouldn't be a penalty machine like he was in college.
The penalties was what had me worried; very rarely does someone who commits lots of penalties in college fail to do the same in the Pros.
So far so good.

Radio actually just said on passing downs he’s been bad - win rate In low 70s. put peters left tackle and smith to guard.

NFL scouts could see Smith had talent and all the tools, it was just a matter of getting him better coaching so he could maximize it.

That's not true. He had suspect technique with his hands which is coachable. His biggest issue was penalties which were really because he was too mean and went for the pancake to often. If anything he has learned to take the victory. Doesn't hurt when you have had 2 potential hall of famers giving you tips at the position; especially at his skill set.

Somebody here was a big fan of Tyler Smith before the Cowboys drafted him.

Check out this thread created on April 21st (The draft started on the 28th).

What a blessing Will is to this team !
Glad Jerry understands this, and pays the man.
why does this guy get ALL THE CREDIT for every good pick? Does he get the credit for the 3rd down WR who hasnt even dressed even though we were seriously hurting at WR with Gallup out?

Because he has done an overall great job with the recent drafts.
That's a universal opinion and not just mine.
