What Armstrong and Fowler have is hunger for the pay day. Something Miller doesn’t have.

i mean he won in denver, won in LA, got paid and is the same beast. he doesn’t seem paycheck motivated and at some point raw talent wins out

I don’t know if there is no question. It’s like the Raiders….now doubt they are better on paper with Devante Adams but they sit here 0-3.

no. there’s no question lol. he’s the elite of the elite and would’ve thrived with Micah

No I’m not trying to insinuate he doesn’t play hard. He does. But he’s battling Father Time and he’s paid. Typically a recipe for disaster.

Anyway to write up something on if we had Bobby Wagner instead of LVE? That was the old guy money I was hoping they would spend. Both probably wouldn’t be a Cowboy after this year. I do see LVE being a leader out there though from the Sounds of Sidelines clips and last week telling Diggs to drop.

Man, I'm all for it if we can keep our base players this year, compete in the playoffs, or even win the championship, then compete next year and snatch a high-ticket FA who is actually worth it as far as age, value, talent, etc. And also hit the playoffs next year.

With the new playoff structure, it's possible. It's all about getting to the dance. From there, it's a gamble, which Jerry knows all too well. Because once you're there, you likely have less of a chance of winning 3 out of the next 4 years, than you do winning 3 playoff games total over the next 26 years.

I dare say some of the teams we assembled after the 90s clan could have competed with them, and beat them on some days, just like the worst teams in the NFL now can sometimes beat the best, some times.

I think this defense is probably the best one I've ever seen, as a team. We've had Deion, who you could argue was better than Parsons, mostly because Parsons is too young. But this team could give Troy Aikman hell. Irvin, too.

But back to the OP, I have to say, Von Miller was expensive, really too expensive when you consider the fact that if you're going to break the bank for somebody, it should be Micah Parsons. And saving that line of credit until his day comes should be priority. Micah will never get tired of this game. You build your franchise around him. If he can avoid serious injury, I say he'll last 16-17 years in one capacity or another.

The guy truly makes everyone around him better, and some people only notice how he plays when he's on the field, and not how the players who are inspired by him are playing.

He does it all.

What does this have to do w von Miller? Why don’t you post Von Miller stats vs the guys on this roster. How about Miller vs Fowler? Or Miller vs Armstrong? This thread makes no sense
Miller: 95 snaps. 6 pressures, 2 sacks

Fowler: 57 snaps. 6 pressures, 1 sack

Armstrong. 104 snaps. 5 pressures, 3 sacks

Should be noted that Miller is also gameplanned and that has effect Gregory Rousseau who has 3.5 sacks and 6 pressures

I see Philthy knocking down QB's more than Dallas with less sacks and less hurries. Defensive strategy? Beat that QB up?

Would like to see the stat on roughing the QB.

OK, neither Dallas nor Philthy has a RP penalty. Unnecessary Roughness Dallas has 2 and Philthy 1 .

Maybe Philthy defense is just a step slower than Dallas'.

No it’s because Philly has had 26 more passing plays on defense. But with that said, the numbers do look a little off with where the “hurry” percentages are.

Cannot wait for the Eagles. That’s the benchmark game. We get to see who we really are.

I hear you on that divisional game but the Rams still are the champs and that’s probably the first test. Eagles looking good on both sides of the ball playing weak teams though.

Missing the point.

Only reason Bills are top 3 in pass rush metrics is because of Von Miller.

Miller weaponized Rousseau to next level.

Imagine Cowboys pass rush success if teams could not double either Micah OR Von?

THIS is the point.

Like Micah, Von Miller is absolutely the focus for opposing offenses.

Speaking for myself, if everything else was equal, I would absolutely want Miller on the Cowboys. But it isn’t.

If Miller was 25 years old, I would have been perfectly fine giving him a 6 year, $120M deal. But at 33 years old? That’s lunacy. That will end up negatively impacting the Bills, which is something I didn’t want for the Cowboys. Jerry used to go that route and it never worked out well for the Cowboys.

Dante Fowler isn’t Miller, but he does bring considerable juice to the pass rush and they are paying him $5M for 1 year. $5M. And Miller has 2 sacks while Fowler has 1. It is just way smarter for this team… IMO of course.

Buffalo had one major weakness last year: Getting to the QB. They needed a speed rusher in the worst kind of way. After watching what Mahomes did in 13 seconds (which ended their season), they felt like they absolutely had to have Miller to have a super bowl ready team. So they made Von an offer that he couldn’t refuse. Was it smart? In their case, maybe. But if they had pass rushers like Parsons and Lawrence, I guarantee you that there is no way they give a 33 year old pass rusher 120 million for 6 years. It just doesn’t make sense, IMO.

Their hands were tied because by the time Miller was on the market, he was like Obi-Wan Kenobe… their only hope.

So here we are and Dallas has more sacks and pressures than the Bills, and the guy that Miller would have replaced - the guy with the $5M contract - has only one less sack than Miller, and has been good at getting pressure on the QB. It just makes way more sense for Dallas.

Does visions of Miller on one edge and Micah on the other dance in my head? Yes it would have been nice…but it most assuredly wouldn’t have been smart for the Cowboys to do. And that is the bottom line.

The Cowboys have the best pass rush in the league, all the while being one of the youngest teams and without paying a huge contract. They did plenty, and IMO they did it the right way.

That’s just how I view it.

Why didn't the Rams re-sign him?

@JBS Now you have the individual stats...

11 pressures and 4 sacks for Armstrong & Fowler. They would not be on the roster if Von Miller had been signed.
