This thread isn’t intended to be a who is better thread or who should start thread. This is merely an observation about one aspect of their respective talents.

Rush seems to be able to see the field batter than Dak and go through his progressions better than Dak.

If so, that’s really not a good thing as far as Dak is concerned. He has a great deal more reps and game experience. The fact that Rush has the better of him that regard is a serious cause for concern regarding Dak.

Does seem that way.

Physically, not as strong in the legs or arm. But executes the offense well.

Some of you are something else. I root for Rush cause he's a Cowboy and think he's simply driving the bus as a backup QB should. But i'm going to say this....if Dak put up the same numbers as Rush, you guys would say, we're not going to make it with those numbers. I know because some of you said it before. So STOP IT! Cooper Rush is doing a very good job as a BACKUP. NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM IS HE BETTER THAN DAK. Look back at the threads and read how Dak gets talked bad about because he didn't put up big passing numbers. Now that Cooper Rush is putting up similar numbers.....HE'S GREAT! He's doing a good job but he's no where near the talent of Dak.

Rush is the better QB looks more like a real NFL QB, some of you homers have to look at things a different way

The key aspects I like Rush more than Dak are that he’s decisive with the ball and poised in the pocket. Dak will hold on and wait for far too long. How many mind-numbing sacks have we watched him take over the years yelling at our screens to get rid of the ball? With respect to poise, it may sound like a play on words but Dak has a penchant for spazzing out in the pocket.

Does that make Rush better than Dak? Probably not, but those are traits I value in a QB.

What do numbers have to do with the topic?

And who cares what numbers he puts up if the team is winning and he is contributing towards that?


At the end of the day, Rush is a good backup QB. Nothing more, nothing less. What he is doing is showing/proving that we didnt need to waste that money on Dak like many of you on here swore we had to.

I'm definitely not a Dak apologist either. In fact quite the opposite. But I completely agree with Acho here. When Dak comes back and plays, and he will, Kellen has to design the game plan to fit Dak's skills. I feel like Kellen has done a fantastic job protecting Rush with Rush's QB deficiencies. Rush isn't the best athlete, Rush isn't a strong arm. Kellen has called games to protect Cooper. What I feel has to happen is Kellen needs to do the same for Dak. In the last half of 2021 Dak showed inaccuracy, not reading defenses and low confidence. When Dak comes back Kellen has to design gameplans and call plays that protect Dak. If Kellen does that and calls safe plays that let's Dak slowly take the offense down the field with safe plays then I feel we'll continue to win with Dak. So in a sense I feel Dak is a better bus driver than Rush so Kellen has to redesign the bus for Dak. Dak is not a Peyton Manning, Mahomes type QB. So Kellen needs to stop being stupid with the playcalling and play to Dak's strengths.

Everyone wants to debate whether or not Dak is better than Cooper. I feel that's a waste. The real debate, the real question is: can Kellen coexist and create an offense with Dak. What we're seeing is Kellen coexist great with Rush. It doesn't seem like Kellen and Dak have coexisted well since middle of 2021. If they can't coexist then we have problems.

I don't think we have a QB controversy. I think we have a OC QB controversy.

The one thing besides arm strength that comes to mind when I think about Rush vs Dak is balls. Rush has balls of steal and just attacks deep as soon as he sees one on one. Dak will methodically move down the field, which causes penalties and things of that nature when you're taking so long to get down field.

Your final paragraph is the pertinent point moving forwards regardless. A practice squad QB is 4-0 with the same team that Prescott has been 6-6 during the same stretch. Rush is arguably not even a top 60 QB in the league - it just proves the point that many people on here have claimed for years that Prescott shouldn't have been paid. If you look back to last season then the win over the Patriots is one that Rush probably doesn't pull out the bag but then there may have been a game that he lost which Rush might have won. In essence, there isn't much between the two in terms of the team winning games - the offense under Prescott scored 3 points against a defense that conceded 41 points last night.

With that said, Rush is a backup QB but a proper QB is needed to replace Prescott as the starter - however, given his undesirable contract, the front office have dug themselves into a hold unless they can arrange a trade.
