Rush vs Dak: Vision of field

Don't need a cannon if you have anticipation. He's thrown some sweet deep balls these past couple weeks

He has thrown some absolute dots. If he plays vs the Rams I have a feeling we will have to open up the offense more, to keep up. This will be his greatest test.

Some of you are something else. I root for Rush cause he's a Cowboy and think he's simply driving the bus as a backup QB should. But i'm going to say this....if Dak put up the same numbers as Rush, you guys would say, we're not going to make it with those numbers. I know because some of you said it before. So STOP IT! Cooper Rush is doing a very good job as a BACKUP. NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM IS HE BETTER THAN DAK. Look back at the threads and read how Dak gets talked bad about because he didn't put up big passing numbers. Now that Cooper Rush is putting up similar numbers.....HE'S GREAT! He's doing a good job but he's no where near the talent of Dak.

Still have trouble w/ that analyzing thingie I see.

Rush seems to be able to see the field batter than Dak and go through his progressions better than Dak.

If so, that’s really not a good thing as far as Dak is concerned. He has a great deal more reps and game experience. The fact that Rush has the better of him that regard is a serious cause for concern regarding Dak.

Something is off with Dak and yes his vision has been a problem. The Tamp game he was throwing constantly to double or even triple covered wide outs.

I never liked Cooper Rush.. but he’s playing well and seems to be getting better.

I don't have the Kurt Warner video someone posted last season where Kurt dissected Dak's passing game. In the video Kurt showed how Dak was not seeing the defense and he was throwing to the wrong receivers. Of course all these videos select plays that help make the argument the presenter wants to make. But Warner's video, I thought, was very insightful.

I think it is obvious that the biggest difference between Dak and Rush is that Rush sees the defense and has a better idea of where to throw the football than Dak does. Call it knowing the offense better, or whatever. But Dak is less decisive in his throws and seems more confused by certain defenses. You cannot blame Moore and the receivers for every bad play. I am sure they make mistakes while Cooper Rush is playing too.

I am not suggesting Rush should be the starter. There is a reason Rush, missing some players on offense, has won 3 games this season alone. We have seen Rush make some good plays and avoid mistakes. But we have seen Dak put up way more points in games than Rush seems capable of. Dak should be the starter. Rush has just been surprisingly good while he has played.

So, my thing against Dak has always been about his accuracy. We had to have those top teir receivers to catch behind their head. His feet and being able throw on the run is what got him where he's at. Rush seems to get the ball where it needs to be at the right time under pressure.

I'm definitely not a Dak apologist either. In fact quite the opposite. But I completely agree with Acho here. When Dak comes back and plays, and he will, Kellen has to design the game plan to fit Dak's skills. I feel like Kellen has done a fantastic job protecting Rush with Rush's QB deficiencies. Rush isn't the best athlete, Rush isn't a strong arm. Kellen has called games to protect Cooper. What I feel has to happen is Kellen needs to do the same for Dak. In the last half of 2021 Dak showed inaccuracy, not reading defenses and low confidence. When Dak comes back Kellen has to design gameplans and call plays that protect Dak. If Kellen does that and calls safe plays that let's Dak slowly take the offense down the field with safe plays then I feel we'll continue to win with Dak. So in a sense I feel Dak is a better bus driver than Rush so Kellen has to redesign the bus for Dak. Dak is not a Peyton Manning, Mahomes type QB. So Kellen needs to stop being stupid with the playcalling and play to Dak's strengths.

Everyone wants to debate whether or not Dak is better than Cooper. I feel that's a waste. The real debate, the real question is: can Kellen coexist and create an offense with Dak. What we're seeing is Kellen coexist great with Rush. It doesn't seem like Kellen and Dak have coexisted well since middle of 2021. If they can't coexist then we have problems.

I don't think we have a QB controversy. I think we have a OC QB controversy.

Linehan couldn't do it. Garrett couldn't do it. Moore can't do it.

What does it take to make a gameplan for a $40 million quarterback?

Playcalling isn't the issue. Hitting the broad side of a barn is the issue.

i agree as does the national medias, our own teammates, and any sane fans know how dak plays against the east. the east knows it and i for sure know this
dak gets his job back because there a no debate hes the better NFL QB

no debate sorry this scenario with our d is why players like Matt castle, jimmyG , wentz and a better comp is GOFF, Rush is basically like those guys as they get to ride along with a team playing championship level D, great STs, and not asking for anything else for the QB.

im listening to many ex-coaches and players, all agree with topse that see with eyes not just outcomes after each game , this morning still say to just stop acting like there's a controversy. My eyes tell me im 100% correct.

It’s clear Rush doesn’t have nearly as much velocity on his passes, but he seems to see the field much better.

Those old enough to remember when 100 year old Mr Blanda (love the guy...nothing but respect) would come on in relief or when he took over for a few games would know one does not have to have a strong arm arm...just anticipation. Anyone who actually saw the games I'm talking about understands.

Only thing i disagree with is...i do love Dak..ha

I have been saying, i rewatched the TB game 3 times and said it was amazing how many holes we dug out of and how close the game was until late in the 3rd quarter. When I say that the playcalling and penalties kill the offense...i am not joking.

The biggest difference has been the improved and conservative playcalling and the lack of drive-killing penalties.

Maybe it's not a field of vision problem. Maybe it's the offense has been stripped down for Rush. Because I don't see Rush going through his progressions very often, like Dak. So Moore must be calling either or plays for Rush. Where he makes one read before choosing his target.

Well....I can dissect that. You've seen 4 games of Cooper Rush. You haven't been in the QB room. You haven't been to the practices. And you're not one of the coaches. And you start a thread that asks if he Rush sees the field better than Dak....lol. Four games of Cooper Rush and you ask that question....lol. I rest my case.

And who cares what numbers he puts up if the team is winning and he is contributing towards that?


At the end of the day, Rush is a good backup QB. Nothing more, nothing less. What he is doing is showing/proving that we didnt need to waste that money on Dak like many of you on here swore we had to.

Have that same energy when Dak puts up the same numbers. Cause you are one of the main ones that ALWAYS criticize Dak.
