Plenty of others can run the defense. We have lots of talent now. What DQ brought to the table that maybe we cant replace was who he helped us draft and who he brought in as FA's that fit his scheme.

I like Quinn but feel like any defense with Micah Parsons on it is going to be good

Micah is great.

But I think McCarthy and Quinn have the potential to be a great tandem.

They are playing at a high level, gang tackling, pursuing like crazy
That's the sign of a good coach
I'll trade him for MM any day

This is the thing with fans. Black or white, right or wrong, McCarthy or Dan Quinn. Why not have both guys, just compensate Quinn for taking the DC spot when he could have been a HC? like give him 5 million more than any other HC.

Problem solved.

After this year. Who do we get to replace him that can run a defense as well as he does?

having said that, I hope JJ throws everything at him to stay. I haven’t ever seen such a turn around for a defense in my life.
Know your defensive coaching staff when asking questions like that. Joe Whitt Jr is more than capable of taking over for DQ without this defense skipping a beat. With that said, I agree with you. JJ needs to do whatever it takes to keep DQ. We have players like Micah Parsons saying if DQ leaves, he will follow.

Jerry needs to double his pay and 40% more if he gives us a top 5 defense. If Jerry doesn't give him coaches worth of pay I'll be pissed. Money should never be an issue when you select a coaches.

It not all about talent, it largely about tenacity, scheme, playcalliing, gang tackling, and pursuit.
I haven't seen a team leave its guts on the field in a long, long time.
I'm sure he'd spread that to the offense too.
I want him here as HC.
The fraud can go elsewhere.

This is the issue for defensive coordinators turning head coach…..it’s a offensive passing league and teams seem to want to find their next Sean McVey.

Everyone wants their OC and QB to grow together and the only way to ensure that is if you make your head coach a OC minded coach. I think it’s going to be tough for DCs to get that head coaching job. So they may be able to hold on to Quinn a little longer.

I agree......but I'm guessing he's going to want/need a strong offensive coordinator and vet QB or a chance to draft his own. Either way, I'm not sure there are going to be as many openings this cycle as we usually see. It's early but I only see 4, maybe 5 ( Panthers, Colts, Seahawks, Texans and Commanders ). Notice all these teams are looking for a franchise QB.

Two names I would keep an eye on if Quinn leaves........Mike Zimmer and Vic Fangio. One thing is for sure, Parsons now makes this an attractive job for any DC, so we should be able to get the best out there.
