For me, there’s several…in this order:
  1. Tyler Smith- I thought he would struggle at LT. (He may struggle some down the road) He’s been outstanding.
  2. Noah Brown- has become a very reliable 3rd receiver.
  3. Dorance Armstrong- has 3 sacks in 4 games and a blocked fg. Has been very active in every game. He’s an example of a long term development project that worked out.

Although i agree with those you listed, there is Rush, Wilson, Bland, Ferguson/Hendershot, and a much improved Diggs if you can believe that. Just goes to show this has been amazing to watch. But Cooper is heads above all or this team would be 0-4 right now. i doubt anyone believed in him, including the FO. He was just a cheap backup.

  1. Cooper Rush - Thought we’d have 2 L’s by now
  2. Noah Brown - He’s on track for 1,200 yards!
  3. Brett Maher - Legacy of last time around I guess
It might be Bland and Ferguson at the end of the year but we haven’t seen enough of them yet to date IMO.

i feel like the interceptions actually worked in the opposite way as far as perception. had they just been pbu's don't think anyone's calling them lucky or covering up for bad coverage. definitely happy with his play though.

and man, how fortunate to have so many surprise players this year.
I think that's 100% fair and makes perfect sense.

You're right, we're fortunate to have had so many guys step up.

For me, Noah Brown has been a big surprise. I expected Tolbert to slide into the role of temporary starter until Gallup returned, and be the 3rd receiver going forward. But Noah Brown has definitely earned time on the field for more than just special teams and blocking.

They call him Donooooo. Wilson has been a pleasant surprise, but so many players have emerged. Noah, Tyler, Dorance, DaRon. Even veterans like D-Law, Fowler and, yes, Cooper Rush, have upped their game. All of this and we have a guy named Micah. This is fun. Hope it continues.

Since the end of camp, no big surprises to me.

Tyler Smith was my favorite player in the entire 2022 draft.

I've always been a fan of Noah Brown and have posted that opinion many times.

CB Bland was good in camp. I was surprised then, but at this point he has just continued on what the showed then.

DE Armstrong was better last year than most fans believed. I expected him to start this year.

Bohanna was a surprise in camp relative to last season, but at this point he has just continued on what the showed in the preseason.

I expected Hooker to be an upgrade over Kazee, but he has exceed my expectations.
- The fact that you don't see or hear his name often is a good sign for a Free Safety.
- We saw Kazee often last season and it was rarely for positive reasons.

McGovern looked better than he did in any of his 4 starts in 2021.

Farniok made some mistakes, but overall he held up well in his 1st and 2nd ever NFL starts.
- He handled power better than expected against the Bengals big 340ish DTs and Giants big DT.

Cooper Rush looks the same as he did in his 1 start in 2021.
- The surprise was how bad he looked in the preseason.

No surprise with DLaw. He is a very good (not great) player when healthy.

Mukuamu has played well which is a continuation of the preseason.

Donovan Wilson has shown good ability in the past, but he's more consistent now.
- I was impressed on the play where he picked up and carried the WR on the deep sideline pass attempt.

Fowler has flashed which I expected. He is a talented player and I expected him to play well in limited snaps.

Brett Maher. Now if he could eliminate the double break kicks, it would probably lengthen Cowboys fan's average life span by 5 years.

I watched all of the preseason games, so none of the guys already mentioned surprised me. But, I was surprised by Dennis Houston. I thought he was going to come in and take the bull by the horns. Silly me, I guess.

The biggest surprise is Cooper Rush's ability to get this whole team to play above their heads and win these important games that are keeping our season alive.

This is a season where a majority of unlikely players have surprised me and I have to believe that Cooper Rush is the catalyst.

I was SO down on Tyler. I had read all the naysayers stuff. Completely not ready. A penalty waiting to happen. Poor coaching. 2 or 3 year project.

After we drafted him, I found your write up on him from before the draft. You were so positive. Not just passionate about his potential, but educated. After reading your write-up, I was much more optimistic. Now, you look like you were WAY closer to who he could be than any of the folks getting paid to know.

Outside of Cooper Rush, it's Noah Brown, although the more I looked at his tape from college and studied his story, that he declared for the draft as a freshman, I'm not really all that surprised. He's only 26.

New player, Doran Bland.

Injured player will be Michael Gallup.
