Maybe I missed it or something, but did Jerry Jones ever do anything to mark our 50th anniversary? I know he didn't do anything the year the original AFL teams celebrated their 50-year mark but was there something the following year?

I don't remember seeing any patches worn by the players or anything like that. Any info on this?

He celebrated by cashing checks for the seat licenses in his new 1.3 billion stay-jium.

Oddly enough, the uniform patch was issued for our 51st year. Odd that nobody around here noticed that.

It was a huge debate at the time around here.

The patch was to commemorate the 50th anniversary, not the 50th season.

only thing "odd" is that you act like nobody around here noticed after that very topic being beat to death and hos rejecting any merchandise that bared the 50th ann patch

He performed a little accounting trick by pushing it back a year in deference to the new stadium's feelings.

Well, it also had something to do with sales....sale the logo for the 1st seaon of the Deathstar and grand opening.
Then next year sale the logo for the 50th anniversary. It was a marketing / sales gimmick more than the anniversary vs. season BS.

:signmast:

And I think there may have been some sarcasm in Hagman's post.

Nobody noticed? I pitched a conniption fit that damn near measured on the richter scale.

I will never buy anything with that abortion of a patch, and if someone gives me something with it on there I will probably destroy it, with extreme prejudice.

I wrote every member of the DFW media and asked them why they were not making an issue out of that. Not one of them had the cajones to take Jerry to task for this garbage.

It's OK, Hos. As the poster above indicated, my post was intended as sarcasm. I very much appreciate the history of the team that you bring to the board and I share your disgust with Jerry's handling of the 50th anniversary and--a very big beef of mine--his refusal to put deserving old Cowboys in the ROH.

Take a deep breath and relax...out with the bad air...in with the good.

I nearly had a heart attack. I was thinking, "There is no way on this earth that I didn't hell loud enough to wake the dead."

I'd take an 0-16 season above that patch.

When I seen the title of this thread my psychic powers told me that you would be posting in it. :D

So the players wore that patch in the 2010 season? No wonder I missed it then. That was such an abomination of a season that I didn't see a lot of games.

But really, that was it, a patch? All of the AFL teams had big celebrations in 2009 but we didn't do anything. Then we wear a patch and not a peep more in the worst season in our history as far as I'm concerned. I've been through the early years when we couldn't win, through 3-13 in Landry's last season and 1-15 in Jimmy's first but I've never felt bad about this team like I did in 2010.

I just don't know how to voice my feelings about this without geting banned so I'll just leave it with... :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Ban you? For hating that patch?

I'd probably knight you.

I said this recently and I mean it. If I get any Cowboys related item with that patch on it I will use the 2010 portion of the logo for target practice.

Trust me people noticed. All this has done is give those same people the chance to completely over-react and make a HUGE deal out of absolutely nothing.
