Broaddus: Devin Street to push Terrance Williams?

Hey, if the WR coach is reportedly high on him, that's a good thing. Now, let's see him deliver on some of that promise.

It's never a wasted pick if the guy can play. You never know when over the course of four years you're going to need position depth anywhere. You guys watch enough football to know that by now. C'mon.

I haven't lost complete confidence in T-Will as yet but his disappearance for extremely long periods of time is fairly concerning if nothing else. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a mid-round pick for a speedy wideout is in the cards in the next draft. The main reason it wouldn't happen is the priority that'll likely be given to defensive players possibly being a higher priority. Our offense is reasonably strong even if another wideout isn't to be forthcoming in the draft. We're sorely in need of many upgrades defensively. A WR with blazing speed and the ability to get open on a regular basis would constitute a blessing, though. Getting that just might require an extremely high draft pick, however -- something that probably isn't realistically in the cards this year.

There's no doubt that defense should be the highest priority this offense but having a real threat @#2 WR would blow the top off opposing defenses

I think it's great.

We have a great WR coach in Derek Dooley. We now have had success with a 3rd round pick in Williams and a UDFA in Beasley. While Dooley wasn't around when Dez was picked, Dez has progressed nicely while being coached by Dooley.

And now they really like a 5th round pick in Street.

Keep coaching them well and create competition and in the end the organization wins.

Judging by this thread I'll guess he will be a very good no.2 in a year or two.

Also remember, Williams will not be around forever so having a young guy the coaches proportedly like is a positive.

I would love to have a burner at WR.

TWill really stepped it up in the playoffs. He had some really big plays. If someone can come in and beat him out? That'd really mean something.

I don't know about pushing Williams, right now I would like him to show signs of being a legit WR. I was happy when Dallas got him in the draft and disappointed thus far on his play. I hope he takes this off season to get himself ready so he will be able to help this team next year

I think Dooley has done a great job with our receivers and I look forward to continued improvement.

As for this comment? I think it's probably a subtle push aimed at Williams working a bit harder and getting better.

I saw nothing on the field from Street to indicate that he could push Williams for the #2 job, and Williams made big plays down the stretch after disappearing for a good stretch of the season.

Hopefully what we get in 2015 is the guy we saw during the stretch run rather than the disappearing act.

I think the comments being made about Street are meant to motivate both players more than anything substantial.

Is Dooley just blowing smoke or is Street a potential future starter?

As for draft prospects, they talked about the obvious speed factor Phillip Dorsett would bring and also had good things to say about Jamison Crowder and Tyler Lockett.

They also touched on Dorial Green-Beckham and his litany of off-field issues and that he'll still go in round one, regardless.

Unfortunately, anything that Broaddus says is as random as asking a magic 8-ball. Broaddus was confident all season that Marinell was going to Tampa.

Broaddus seems like a nice guy but his predictions are terrible.

Having said that, Street played more snaps than Harris in several games which I would not have known by just watching the games.

It's looking like the annual post-draft "I told you so" ire has moved from Hitchens to Street.

Yeah, Street didn't light it up this year, and he may never, but from what we've all read, the Cowboys scouts had him rated pretty high, and from a draft that yielded a lot of productive rookie WR and a scouting staff that seems to know what they're doing lately, I'm willing to give the guy a chance.

Most fans realize that some young receivers take some time to "get it," and as many have said on a team with Dez, Wit, Beasley, DM, TWill, etc., it's actually a good thing that the Cowboys didn't have to rely on the kid.

Would you rather have Street lighting it up on a crappy team like Benjamin/Panthers, or coming on on his own pace and learning on a really good team?

Geez, the Packers are loaded at WR, and still took Davante Adams in the second, and from most accounts, he didn't come on till late in the year. Now, they love the kid.

Even with Cobb possibly walking, it showed foresight by the Packers (they'll be even more dangerous if they re-up Cobb), and perhaps in a few years, the same can be said for Street.

Cool your jets, and give him some time, and if he ends up being a bust, you can still beat your chests about him in three years.

From what I saw out of Street, he's an excellent blocker. It may not sound like much, but coaches tend to like that because it requires technique which what coaches are about and it requires 'want to' which coaches love.

I think it's optimistic to believe that Street can out-perform Williams from the past 2 years, but I can believe that they really like the guy. It reminds me of the O-Line coach that has a pet cat because the pet cat uses the technique and is a bit of an underdog.

The big thing I see is that Street needs to work on his body. He needs more lower body strength.

While I've been outspoken against the training staff's inability to keep players healthy, I do believe they are very good at transforming players after a season or two physically. Joseph Randle and Ronald Leary looked like 2 different athletes this season compared to the previous season. If the same can happen for Street, then we might be getting something out of him next season.

If I'm Jerry I would try to swing a trade with Minnesota for Cordarrelle Patterson. Dooley coached him in Tennessee and the rumor was that Dallas was gonna draft him but Minnesota jumped Dallas to get him late in the 1st rd.

Patterson could replace Dwayne Harris plus Pattetson didn't do anything last year when Zimmer took over so maybe you can get him for a 4th rd pick or something.

Blocking, being a decoy, and creating space by clearing are some. Good teammate, clubhouse leader, mentor, just a hard worker, and teaching in the film room. Being a third down threat is huge. Teams having to scheme against that is big. My guess is teams did that against the Leprechaun. All the way back to Preston Pearson that's troubled teams.

Street was a great player in college with a below average QB tossing him the ball. With this being his rookie season and adjusting to the NFL, I would give him atleast another 2 years before you can determine whether he has the goods or not.

Its not like the coaching staff has thrown him into the fire last season, so his playing time was very limited especially with Dez, TWill, Cole and Harris playing the entire season not missing many games.
