Tony Romo still thinks he can come back at a high level, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes that too.

But after watching another season go off the rails when he was injured, both sides know what’s coming next.

Via Todd Archer of ESPN.com, Romo said he’s already had a conversation with Jones about the future at the position, and is fine with using the No. 4 overall pick on a quarterback if he’s the best fit for the Cowboys...

If I was Jerry could careless what Romo thinks you have to look at the future of the team !

I dont get the need to talk to Romo about drafting a QB. Who cares if he is "cool" with it, if it is best for the franchise.

I don't believe there is a QB worthy of the 4th pic in this draft. So whatever LOL

Good grief, read the article. It wasn't presented as Jerry having a "need" to talk to Romo about it. As someone else put it, my take is that the media asked Tony about the possibility of it happening, and what his reaction would be. Nothing more or less.

BUT...let's say Jerry did feel a need to visit with Romo about it. Not for the purpose of getting his "permission", but simply because he was respecting Romo's value to the team. What on Earth would be so bad about that?

When the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers, the story is that Brett Favre was so pissed that he and Rodgers did not speak for most of the first season. Packers GM (can't recall if it was Wolf or if Thompson had taken over by then) has been quoted as saying that his only regret was not having the opportunity to inform Favre of the pick before it happened, hinting that Favre deserved that consideration after all he'd done for Green Bay.

Like I said, I think the media is making a lot more of this than is there. But if that's not the case, so what?

Of course he is, what are the chances the get a good one? I'm more likely to squat out a diamond.

I'll take the chance with Goff or Lynch over your chances with a diamond.

People are taking the article WAY out of context. Permission isn't needed nor is Romo's buy in. BUT Tony's buy in is important to developing any young/backup QB, particularly one the franchise would potentially be investment so much in.

Gratifying that this increaingly brittle and elder QB has given his blessing. A grateful Cowboys fandom salutes you for your unselfish deed. Now about those $50 million that we desperately need to rebuild this team . . . .

The Cowboys need to look toward free agency or a trade for a franchise QB. There is no ringer in this year's draft.

Sadly, looking over the stats Brandon Weeden had the best year of all four Cowboys' QB's this season.

lol. Trade for a franchise qb. So he can be a backup for 2-3 years.

We have a good backup this year, we win a few without Romo, don't rush him back and we make the playoffs which considering how bad the playoffs look this year who knows. Romo isn't stupid he must see that and probably wants a backup
