Great pick in Prescott, but we will have to score 30+ points per game to win

Well each to his own opinion.
lets see how they both do this year.
Murray broke one for 71 yard td in PS game 1 and had 93 yards. Henry had 74 yards 167 total in 1 half.

My opinion is that I hate Murray. So I will selfishly find any flaw in his game.

I am certainly looking forward to the day where the Cowboys start winning again. It's getting tiresome reading the same gloom and doom in almost every thread

People never take into consideration that when you can run the football, you can control the clock and that in itself improves the defense. If we can run the football, control the clock and create some turnovers we will not be giving up 28 pts per game. It will be a solid defense. Especially once we get Lawrence back. Crawford,Mayowa,Russell, J.Crawford and Irving will put just enough pressure on the QB to allow the LBs and our under rated secondary to make plays and win games.... Even low scoring games

Zeke is a complete player that they weren't. A little more upside, I'm hoping.
I believe Zeke is close to as good as it gets. Behind this line he should be leading the NFL in rushing every year for a while. He should be Emmitt squared in my opinion. Maybe with a little more speed. We will have to see about the heart and the durability.

"For guys like you" what's that supposed to mean? are you the savior? the football god? I don't think so...you can agree or disagree with my opinion or you can simply move along. get it? got it? good

Guys like you that think it will be settled within the first few games of the season. Isnt that pretty much what you said? Guys like you that will declare the competition over after 4 games when Zeke averages 130 combined yards a game and a TD and the Ramsey doesnt even have a pick. Am I not correct?

Honestly, its not a fair competition if you are only going to go on instant impact or production. For the guys that wanted Ramsey it was about long term impact. For the guys that wanted Zeke it is obviously all about instant impact, short term, win now, Romo window thing.

Personally, I am not 100% sure which is the better plan. But one thing I AM sure about is that we wont be winning any SB's until this defense is fixed.

The fair competition would be more like this:

which would you rather have?

Zeke Elliott and Carr

or

Alfred Morris, McFadden, the other rookie back and Jaylon Ramsey.

Or

Lamar Miller, Alfred Morris, Jaylon Ramsey

For my money, I take #3 all day long. Great short term and great long term. And you can cut Carr and save lots of money. Definitely enough to cover the cost of Miller and then some. Now our Defense starts to take shape.

Secondary=Jaylon Ramsey and Claiborne at Corner, Scandrick in the slot and Jones at FS. You have the makings there of a good secondary. Probably still need a new SS.

And you even have Jaylon Smith coming in to play MLB next year to team with Lee.

People do take that into consideration...theyve said it in this thread. More important though is scoring points to force the opposition to be aggressive. There was a 1 minute difference between dallas' 14 and 15 Average time of possession. 32 minutes then 31.

I know it's getting the anointing oil out a bit early, but I agree. He's got the Oline, and supporting players to draw attention off.

I think it is more than just controlling the clock it wears a defense down when they are getting mauled by an offensive front. Heck ask an OL and they like being on the attack instead of defending. You can take the heart out of a defense a lot quicker when you can run the ball down their throat.

I, like everyone else, was sitting there mesmerized, watching Dak Prescott have a perfect game his first time playing vs another team. (The two drops weren't his fault). I love what I see as the future franchise QB of this team took total control of the offense. I also really like what I saw from our RB corps, whether it was Morris or Jackson or whoever. However, I also saw the other side of the ball. Going into the past few drafts, this team saw it too, but did little about it. Sure, they drafted knuckleheads, like Gregory & Lawrence, and LBs that couldn't play until the following season, but nothing even close to a Super Bowl winning defense. (See: Broncos, Seahawks, Giants, ect.)

Looking at the Jags' draft, I can't help wish that their first 4 picks: Jalen Ramsey, Miles Jack, Yannick Ngakoue, & Sheldon Day, were ours & vice-versa. We would still have a very solid RB corps, but our secondary would be much better off. Even after that, the Jags drafted two more DEs. Now, THAT'S how you build a SB defense. LB Jack is already playing, while our LB, Jaylon Smith, is out all season. Our franchise QB is THIRTY SIX years old. You don't wait until later to give him a defense. Now, the only way we can sack the QB is to manufacture a pass rush with blitzes, leaving a terrible secondary susceptible to big plays.

This year, we will have to score 30+ points per game, because our D will be giving up 28/game. That's not, nor ever will be, a formula for a championship trophy. Stop drafting injured players in the first 3 rounds, & select defensive players the first five rounds next year, like the Jags did, & maybe we can begin to build a defense worthy of a ring. I just hope our QB can last that long.

Well no... I learned here you don't draft defense because it takes a year or two for them to become cornerstones.

Instead you draft rb because IMPACT.

Oh and Jersey sales. And fantasy football points. And because SHINY.

Can't wait for it. A guy that never got thrown to in College that you hold in as high regard as Deion Sanders (good luck) vs. a guy that's just a smart, 3 down football player with power and speed that will be about 70% of our offense.
Not getting thrown at is an insult now?

If Zeke is 70 percent of our offense we'll be picking top 5 again.

While I definitely don't believe having a strong running game fixes everything it does help the defense a great deal and will put them on the field less which should help keep the score down. You have to be able to run in the 4th quarter - that is the biggest key because if you can't run in the 4th you will lose with our defense

Please go look up how much time our defense was on the field in 2014 vs. 2015.

You're the guy in the Dark thread that says overzealous opinions after one preseason game almost forces some people to appear negative when they ask for restraint.

The same guy who said "can't we just wait to let these cats play."

And within 24 hours you just said a kid who hasn't even gotten a preseason game under his belt... Not one... Is Emmitt Squared?

You're fraudulent.

I don't care. lol

If Dallas defense is being ran on it will force us to bring the safeties up in support which then will create more space in the secondary for teams to be able to attack. I get tired of the argument about run vs pass but what I do know that has not changed in the 50 years of watching the NFL and football in general and that is running the ball will keep a defense off balance and it will wear a defense out quickly.

But here is a guy that deserves to be put up there already. 4th pick in the draft, widely regarded as one of the best backs to come out since Peterson, ect......ect....

And I dont see any way this guy flops with this offense and this Oline. I would be saying 1500 yards and 12 TD's even if Morris was the lead back.

Now if he gets hurt or Romo goes down, those numbers dont happen for Zeke.

I like what Gus Bradley is building in Jax. The have lots of talent. Through the draft, and FA. I expect them to be around .500 this year. But yeah I would just switch 2nd round picks with them. Smith for Jack. That's it. I'm good with Zeke.

Big difference between Zeke a RB and the #4 pick in the draft in this offense and a 4th round QB.

But you do seem like an angry little guy. Maybe you should just put me on ignore if you cant play nice.

We had 24 points in the first half against the Rams so I don't see any problem hitting 30 by the end of the third quarter each week. :)
