I don't think Bell is under contract after this year, is he?

But I agree with you, I'm not sure I would cut Green outright, that would just be spiteful, not smart. But I also wouldn't go into 2018 counting on him for anything, starter or backup, if I can help it. Draft another option so you're not stuck.

You are correct. It was a one-year deal. Looney's two-year deal also runs out. I wouldn't be surprised to see us re-sign both, though, because they are fairly low-cost and no team is going to be looking to make them starters.

Tyrone Crawford.

Written off as a bust he's played well this year.
Maybe under performed to his contract but not written off as a bust.

When healthy he has been fairly solid with a few impact plays sprinkled in.

My preference would be to get cheaper and younger at both positions if I could. At this point, both Looney and Bell are what they are, with no upside that a rookie would possibly have. And they're both making veteran money at this point too, more than what most rookies would cost you.

While that is always the goal, getting cheaper and younger can also mean getting worse. I don't like letting players go just so we can get cheaper and younger. I'd rather have them under contract and let them go if they are beaten out for a roster spot. A contract like Bell is receiving this year ($1 million base, with a $250,000 signing bonus, $75,000 roster bonus and $450,000 workout bonus) is worthwhile IMO to keep us from being forced to keep younger, cheaper players are no good. If the younger, cheaper player is better, then cutting him costs $250,000 while saving $1.5 million.

On Offense: La'el Collins
No one has drawn more difficult match ups through the first 8 games and he has more than held his own in those match ups. The cowboys are 2nd in the NFL in rushing and are second in sacks given up.

On Defense: Tyrone Crawford
4 Sacks, 1 FF, blocked a kick that turned the game around against Washington, and is probably 2nd on the team in pressures.

Two very unsung and often criticized members of the team.
My thoughts exactly

LCollins has gone against JPP, Vernon, Chandler Jones, Robert Quinn, Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Clay Matthews, Ryan Kerrigan, Justin Houston

The team has only allowed 9 sacks so LCollins has done great

TCrawford was the whipping boy all winter....... glad to see even @stasheroo has come around.....7m for a DT/DE with consistent pressure is a steal

I can gladly admit to being wrong. He's playing well this year, and a key contributor to a top-notch pass rush.

Who would be the most underrated Cowboys player half way through the season?

My pick would be Jordan Lewis....hardly ever hear his name called, which is a good thing being a cornerback in the NFL. The guy has great technique, and will only improve as he continues to gain experience.
I'd go with Cooper.
He's probably the 5th best OL but he has been a monster in that run game.
Saw him easily handle Bennie Logan so many times Sunday.

Well look at us.

Naming names that were considered JAGS just a few short weeks ago.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.......... ;)

Nice to see this defense playing at a high level.

Im not sure rookies can qualify for that. I would say most underrated is Cooper?

I was wondering if you thought they had played to your expectations.

Irving I had high expectations for.

D. Law has played beyond anything I thought he was capable of.

I expected Irving to start getting in that Pro Bowl level of conversation though.
