The 49ers had a ton of CAP space this year and they wanted a bunch of the money to hit their CAP this year so the CAP hits would be smaller in the future. His CAP hit is only $20 million next year.
Smart. The QB is likely to see all the money in a contract when its frontloaded like that.

I doubt Showers will end up making $480K this year because I doubt he makes the 53 man roster. That $480K represents the amount he would make if he makes the 53 man roster. If he doesn't make the regular roster and he qualifies for the practice squad then he gets a minimum of $7600 a week for every week he is on the practice squad for the 17 regular season weeks and would get that weekly pay also if we made the playoffs.

Here is my question to that. So practice squad players don’t get paid for OTA’s, mini camp and training camp. I’m not sure if that’s correct.

there is something about becoming a regular on DFW sports radio that does that to people. I watched it with JFE and now Sturm.

It's sad.

Yep for instance here is the kind of nonsense Bob will talk about on the radio and then people will repeat it and Bob will not accept any corrections or admit mistake. he is a complete tool.

He is wrong...Romo and Dez went 8-7 in 2013 and 12-4 in 14.
Not that it matters but this is what this guy does. This is his way of getting attention.

Yes smart...very smart. Most starting QB’s get all there contract money anyway, at least the ones with Jimmy G’s talent. So again you guarantee has much as you can and in the upcoming years his hit is less to help a young team sign and build their core players.

They have the cap space so use it now on the highest paid player in the team so you can have the cap space to build around him in later years.

It’s actually cap management 101
