A closer look at Garrett record doesn't justify firing until this year

For fans saying he should have been fired long ago. Take look at his record over the last 9 years and tell me what window/year he should have been fired?

*** He took over for Phillip halfway through 2010
*** Unless they are downright awful and with bad, every coach gets min 3 years
****next three years he was 8-8 through 2013, finishing 2nd in NFCE
*** 2014 finished 1st in NFC East but we lost to Packers in NFC Div game. Won his first playoff game
*** 2015 most of year w/o Romo or Dez
*** 2016 see 2014
*** 2017 missed playoff but lost starting RBing 6 games. Either way, just coming off an excellent 2016 yr. Even so, he still finished with winning record.
*** 2018

Notice he's had only ONE losing season in 9 years........

I understand the frustration, but if you're Jerry and Stephen this is what you're looking at. There's no huge window/year that jumps out and says we've got to fire him. However, this could very well be the year if we have a losing season.

Jerrah loves his redheaded stepchild he wouldn't fire him anyways. Linehan will be the scapegoat.

Those three years of finishing second in the division ended with the last game being winner in, loser out. We lost all three.

At some point average is not good enough. I have never seen an organization so inept at replacing a key injury than this one.

If we make the playoffs after this start we will see JG next season. It's only 3 games. Hoping that we figure it out but if the OL is not better it's a wrap

3 straight years of 8-8 while having a franchise QB.......

Or perhaps going 4-12 when Romo was hurt. Being 1-11 without Romo, showing that he couldn’t do jack squat without a great QB carrying his no talent, mediocre scrub coaching self.

Either of the two times would have been nice.

Funny that some view 8-8 as a winning season? Like that 9-7 crap last year meant anything at all. Garrett blows but atleast he beat the Super Bowl champs 6-0.

Yeah yeah I know but he is stupid and I don’t like him.. lol.

Linehan is on the chopping block. He will be gone. If we continue to stink it up then JJ does it during the season. The thing is that I expect our Offense to pick it up, especially if they let Dak run the RPO more and with our improved Defense we may make the playoffs. Then everyone is safe for another year except Linehan . He may still be gone.

The fact that he sucks is enough reason. A good GM would see that we have one despite not because of him.

The main problem with hiring Garrett when they did: Jerry has admitted Garrett was a project. If you were going to maximize what was left of Romo’s career, Garrett was decidedly the wrong hire.

You’re right it wasn’t a losing record. But it’s as mediocre as it gets.

Not worthy of being the HC of the cowboys.

Also, remember at least two of those 8-8s we where one play from advancing to playoffs

Fans need to get inside of Ole Jers head to understand why we are where we are.
