somehow people overlook thats we may not make it out of the WC game, which hurts worse, that!!

Not overlooking it at all . Redzone offense has me concerned. I would think that when they have Rico and Noah in for blocking when they hand it to Zeke up the middle that they could maybe for a change release one of them like most teams do and get an easy TD

It would sure be something no team would have any tape of us doing LOLOL I know I'm over thinking this just keep running Zeke into the teeth of the defense and kick the FG LOL

This.

For those who weren’t around to experience the pain of losing SBXIII to Pittsburgh, they’ll never know how deeply that cut. And perhaps no team in the SB era suffered a more devastating loss than the 78 Cowboys because it was not only an epic game between clearly the two best teams in football, it was the defining game for team of the 70s. Pittsburgh won and is ranked among the greatest teams in NFL history. They have a wing in Canton to themselves. Had Dallas won, three or four more guys would have a bronze bust, and Staubach would be in the argument for greatest QB of all time.

There have been heartbreaking losses in Cowboys history - NFCCG loss in 81 to SF, later in 94 to SF, the Ice Bowl - but nothing like SBXIII.

Teams are remembered for SB wins AND losses.

The Vikings of the 70s are thought of as choke artists for going 0-4 in SBs that decade. No one mentions the great regular seasons they put together year after year, or the conference championships won or those legendary defenses. Some might argue - and with good reasons - that Alan Page was the greatest DT of all time, but since his legacy is attached to 0-4 in the SB and Joe Greene was 4-0, Page is often an afterthought. (For my two cents, Bob Lilly and Page were the two best DTs to ever play the game.)

The Bills dominated the AFC for half a decade in the 90s but no one remembers the AFCCG wins, only the heartbreaking SB losses, and they’re left branded perennial losers.

I’m Italian and I like World Cup soccer and I root for Italy. There was no more bitter loss than losing to Brazil on penalty kicks in the 94 WCF. An earlier loss in the tournament would not hurt two decades later.

I might be in the minority here, but I’ll take the L before the SB.

You're not in the minority as far as I'm concerned and I share your same heartache for all these same reasons you mentioned. Beautiful historical summary of how losses have affected you across several different teams and sports. Your feelings about those Cowboys Super Bowl losses to the Steelers truly hit home.

The breakdown of the 78 Super Bowl did define an entire decade of team dominance perception as well as the HOF status of many deserving Cowboys players yet to be enshrined.
Great post and travel down a shared memory lane with ya bro. I too, will always be a Landry Cowboy and totally relate to all the Cowboys history you shared and the impact it had on ya, as well as me.

No matter what a loss is inevitable in this scenario. Do you take the L i the Conference Championship or the SB?

For me, I would rather lose in the CC. Losing in the SB is too much for me to deal with.
Conference Championship. I agree with you. Losing the super bowl would be too painful. Plus fans of other teams usually don't rub it in when you lose the CC as much as they would the super bowl.

If the Cowboys continue to run the passing game from the pocket, it's going to be tough to watch.

This kind of loser mentality is something I just don’t get. Maybe we lose and maybe we don’t. But to post something like this is just pathetic.

Would you even remember the Bills losing 4 straight CCs?..........Nah, if we lose, I'd prefer it to be as far along as possible.
I agree. I remember what it was like losing SB Xlll and it was awful. But this team hasn't even come close to a SB since the 90's. I'd rather feel that pain then this wait until next year crap that we've been going through this whole century. I don't even get up too high for playoff games anymore because I expect them to lose somehow. I expect if we get to a championship game that will change. I want to experience Championship football again. It's been too long.

Of course losing the Super Bowl is worse because the game means more. But I find losing Championship games more disappointing. You're one win away from the Super Bowl and you blow it. And in many cases to a rival.
