It'll be weird seeing a TE group with Witten in it where he's not getting all of the reps.

I like this move, for the record. You know what you're going to get, you get the FA vet I expected we'd sign, for less than I thought it'd cost us. If reports are true that he's splitting reps, it lets you continue to develop Jarwin and Schultz, and he's likely to be healthier than Swaim has been. He can block and catch (yes, he can), and there's always a chance he gets his shot at a championship or a Superbowl. If not, he retires and the team moves on, maybe with an entirely new staff. We draft a TE relatively high next year when we have the extra pick and work that guy in for a year after moving Schultz up or extending Jarwin.

Perfect. All we have to do is throw him the ball 8-9 times in a row every series and we’ll score a TD every single time! We’re going to be unstoppable...watchout NFL!
Better than not having a short option

Better than what this offense looks like without Beezy or Witten on the field.

He fits many needs at an extreme discount given the salary. Excellent move.

Heck, we're paying Hurns $6mn this season.

I bet we're not. I know they're saying that he is coming back, but that may just be to training camp, and it's very unlikely he'll make it to the season at 6.

There's 0 justification for it at 6. He didn't produce, and he's coming off a big injury.

There are only 21 TEs in the league with an AAV of greater than $3.5M. So that’s basically starter money. He’s supposed to get roughly 25 snaps per game, so roughly 40% of the snaps on offence. How is that a great deal?
Only?

To me, it's a pleasure to see Witten being welcomed back into the fold for such a realistic and reasonable compensation. Nice to see that he's one of the few players who realize the team must be considered, as well as himself. He's a team player and generally, just a good guy to have around, as always. He'll be a good influence on the younger players that are more than likely going to need it. ;)

There are 32 teams, meaning at least 11 don’t have a starting TE making that money. Witten will be a role player at 25 snaps per game.

But you seem to think 21 is a big number. What rides on it from your perspective?

Analysis of this move:
Roster spot gone, 400 yards, 5 TDs, and progressed shortened for $3 million?

Not worth it.

Despite his age Witten wasn't slowing down compared to his last 5-6 years of play. Great route runner, quick feet, deceptive speed. Just need the playcalling and QB to make things happen.

Only question is was he staying in shape?

I will remember every penny of it, my homie. We shall discuss over extremely strong beers and come to blows with strangers who aren't even in our conversation.
But only when the music calls for it...
Seems like a drinking game with strong beers is forthcoming

No problem with this signing. Vet leader with youngsters willing to learn the same position in a rotation with the wily Witten. Win-Win

He'll be the 22nd highest paid TE. He's making the same as Ed Dickson. I'm pretty sure most don't even know who that it is without looking it up. Lol

I'm not sure he makes us better but I can't see him making us worst. If he takes 98% of the snaps I think that will be a bad thing . Lol it's up to the coaches to limit his snaps and don't give in to what he wants.

Technically all 32 teams have a starting TE but we'll go with 11 don't. That means there are 21 starting TEs in the NFL. Witten is the 22nd highest paid TE.

Must be nice to be getting inside information from Garrett and Moore.

At the low rate of 3.5 mil, no one should have any problem w/ this.
