Are we too hard on Taco?

Less talk, more proving, Taco.

If he can develop into what they envisioned from him when they took him, that would be fantastic.

But unfortunately, some of the concerns, if I recall, when he came out was tied to work ethic and maturity and thus far in two seasons, he hasn't shown a whole lot reasons to think he's gotten better there.

I definitely think most fans are too hard on him.

Fans have ridiculous expectations for most prospects. And regarding Taco, fans seem to have this bitter sense of dislike towards him for no apparent reason. I don’t get it.

He's a first round pick that was actually so inconsequential he got deactivated for games in his 2nd season. I don't think the problems are the high expectations of fans as to why he gets criticized. It's the fact that he's done pretty much zero in two seasons as Dallas.

It's not too much to expect more than that out of your first round pick, is it?

People following the draft that year should know that one of Tacos biggest knocks was that he was a projection. It was pretty well accepted from what I saw that Taco would not hit the ground running and would require 1 to 2 years to start showing up.

So I haven't given up yet, we knew (or should have known) when we picked him that we were drafting a projection. But we're in year 3, so we're in the time frame now where he either hits the projection or doesn't.

Ask me again in 12 months but personally I'm not feeling optimistic.

I ask because I am curious. What has he shown to think he's coming along here? He was actually deactivated for games last year which is never a good sign of where the team thinks you are at.

For whatever reason, he landed in Marinelli's doghouse which not altogether bad UNLESS you handle it the wrong way.
Rather than sucking and pouting, use as motivation to prove him wrong. You can overcome the concerns he had. In fact, not sure if many remember, it took Jerry's comment to get back on the field. That's apparently how pissed Marinelli was.....

He's been a bust, to this point. I think that explains everything. It's nothing personal, but we're all dissapointed--1st round busts hurt.

I blame the Cowboys for not designating him to one position. They keep yo yo-ing him between left DE and Right DE. He loses weight to play on the right side which lessens his effect on the left.

He should be strictly a strong side DE that plays on run downs....to help keep Lawrence fresh.

It's not rocket science. Yet for Marinellie...It's the dead sea scrolls.
