Good afternoon all, I was sitting here pondering my length of time as a Cowboys fan and a thought came to mind. What is my favorite Cowboys Era? It's really eye opening when you talk to people who were born in the 90s or after who are not historians of the team, and they are really lost when you mention players like Scott Laidlaw, Aaron Kyle, Glen Carano, Efren Herrera, Doug Cosbie, etc....Although I was born in the 70's I still did my research on the team's of the 60s because I love my Cowboys, however I can only talk about what I've seen. I would have to say that my favorite era was from 1977 to 1987. Because as a kid during this time period I was able to watch the games with my family and develop love for my favorite players (Tony Hill, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson,etc..)
The 90’s teams.

89-92. Went from having the absolute least talent in the league to owning the league.
1-15
7-9- Emmit falls in our laps.
11-5- Playoffs
13-3 SB champs
12-4 Repeat
Switzerland
Limped to a SB championship. I knew it was over after that game.
So sad. I don’t think Jimmy was the kind of guy to coach 20 years even if he did stay a couple more.
It was inevitable that Jerry was going to put his horrible hands on this team.

The 70s and 80s teams were great but there always seemed to be at least one team that was better than them every year and I was a kid who didn’t really appreciate the sustained success. That being said, nothing beats the 90s teams under Jimmy Johnson. They had swagger from top to bottom including the coach. Losing would be a huge upset to anyone and you never felt there was a chance they would be outcoached. It was the absolute best time to be a Dallas fan. I was in my 20s and could have a few beers and enjoy the show.

The 70s and 90s teams were the most achieving obviously and the 80s teams were the most disappointing. I bet that a lot people didn’t/don’t realize the teams of the 70s and 90s only missed the playoffs a combined total of 3 times (1974,1990,1997)

Definitely the 90's. Not even close for me. The triplets and the O-line man and a really solid D. Watched them from the one win season right through the decade. Emmitt is my favorite all time Cowboy. Too young to remember much about the 60's teams and I was the only one in our home who watched football as a kid. The 70's would be next behind the 90's.

In terms of QB era's... Aikman, Staubach, White, Romo and Prescott hasn't been around long enough to give him an era

After the first SB in the 90's I had as much swagger as the team. I knew there were more to come.

Great post! I was newly graduated from University, a moderately new wife and history to make just like the team of the 90's

Roger Staubachs era was by far my favorite . He and Tom Landry represented everything good about sports . That era will never be duplicated . We were spoiled being given NFL Gods to lead our team
