I have to go with Aikman, because I actually saw him play. He's the reason I became a cowboys fan as a kid growing up in Jersey (was a big fan of Troy as a Bruin). People will bring up his lack of numbers, but the 90's team was built on Smith and the defense.

Romo gets a vote inspite of all the 8-8 seasons. Those 8-8 seasons probably would have been 4-12 seasons w/o him.

I'm sure Staubach would be much higher on the list if I got to see him play.

On a final note, if we can draft a QB based on measurables and accuracy, Aikman would be my choice.

Between the 1962 season and today, I can count on two hands (10 fingers) the number of games I've missed watching. I'd have no idea how to select between the two QB's. As a fan, I admire them both.

Staubach was better. Aikman was only able to succeed if you make everything just right around him - one of the best offensive lines, one of the best running backs, one of the best defenses, etc. Staubach managed to get more done with less. Don't get me wrong, Aikman was a great passer and a precision guy, but he was like an expensive sports car - only works if every component is working right and finely tuned.

And if anyone is going to bring up the 3>2 argument, Aikman went up in the Super Bowl against two weak Bills teams while Staubach had to duke it out against the 1970s dynasty Steelers. And if it weren't for the refs' terrible officiating in SBXIII, Roger should have had Ring #3 as well.
And don't forget Super Bowl 5 when we lost against BALT in a slopfest. Landry strangely decided to play Morton the whole game and kept Staubach on the bench.

Anyone on this board who puts any QB ahead of Staubach and Aikman is a total dumba$$!

I don’t think we ever saw Troy’s full potential. I’d love to see what he’d be able to do in a pass happy offense.

I believe Troy himself said he would have easily put up numbers and stats like Marino if the Cowboys hadn't been a run-first offense.

Or if TEs could hold on to the ball in the endzone when wide open and a perfect pass Staubach would have won 4 and Dallas would have been the team in the 70s and not the Steelers.
