Bleacher Report is saying that their poll of various nfl execs say that Zeke is the keeper, not cooper or Dak. thoughts?

It is premature to say Elliott is the top priority because his contract runs out after 2020 and anything could happen in a couple of years. He could do something boneheaded to get suspended. He could suffer injury or just wear down quickly.

If we had to choose among the three, then Elliott is probably a more important piece of the offense than Prescott and Cooper, but I don't see any reason this should be an either/or situation. The contracts can be structured to make all three fit and still have room for whatever we need to do at other positions.

I'd try re-signing Cooper now because it could lower what we're paying him this season, and that money would get absorbed into the overall contract, lowering its value some, or be rolled over to use next year. I would re-sign Prescott next offseason if he plays like he did in 2016 and the last half of 2018. If the asking price is too much, then I'd franchise him because it would likely cost a little less. With Elliott, I might also try to sign him to an extension before next season, but I'd be very willing to ride it out and see where he's at as a player in two years.

I mean I'm all for resigning all 3, but I want to see Zeke get the kind of deal that a talent like his, that forces the opponent to change their entire game plan for that one game. Problem is, if we do that AND give Dak a way higher contract than a bus driver should get, we may end up losing out on quality defensive starters, which puts us back in teh same boat we've been in

and please believe everything you read on the internet,, it has to be true, I read it on the internet.

The author of this article is a well respected NFL writer, not some blogger.

But LOL at just assuming he's fabricating something because you don't like what his article had to say.

Cooper is the most important sign IMO. Dak would be next and then Zeke. I love Zeke's talent but you don't know from one minute to the next if he is going to be on the field or in dutch with the league. He's a risk that I am not comfortable with, in terms of off the field behavior.

Where did I ever say he was fabricating something, anything? You are free to believe whatever you want to believe, from whatever source you so choose.
Don't tell me that I have to believe anything even from a "well known source."

I think people worry about this too much. Teams sign who they want to sign. Contracts are structured for restructures to push money down the road, then that money is absorbed by other restructures. Unless the league collapses, the bill is never going to really come due.

If we give all three of these plays deals commensurate to what players of similar talent are making, we'll be all right unless they bust and we have to replace them quickly. That's why we need to be sure that if we are paying them top dollar for four or five years that they are going to make it worthwhile for four or five years.

The only real argument that I can find for doing Elliott's deal now is that you are more guaranteed that he'll be able to play out enough years where if you do cut him, the cost is to keep him is at least as much as the cap hit. The cap is a juggling act that can be sustained as long as something unexpected doesn't throw it out of whack. If it does, you can get it back on course, but it takes a little maneuvering.

If we're talking about what order should be Dak, Cooper, then Zeke.

I would consider what the staff is saying or not saying a touch more relevant than what others think. And the staff's actions speak for themselves. It's not so much about credibility, it's more about relevance.

They are all important signs but they have different timeframes before signing is a must. Dak and Cooper must be signed sooner than Zeke, It will all get done when it needs to be done and not before.
