Kellen Moore can fix the Cowboys offense - if Jason Garrett lets him

The biggest challenge we have in our passing offense is our QB’s skill set. It’s inconsistent and predictable.

Hopefully Moore can devise some gimmick plays and college style spread offenses that fit his skill set.

Prescott might be more effective with some options where he can use his legs and mobility. The typical NFL prototype pocket and play action formations isn’t his strength.

I'm still trying to figure out why people think Moore is a good OC?? He went from a running joke around here to the answer at OC...........

Well here's my thought process: I knew really nothing about Moore before he became qb coach. I thought it was a stupid move to have a rookie coach when you had a young talent that really needed to work on his fundamentals. Since then I've read articles where he's already made plays and they were successful in game, I saw the tape with Gruden, and basically everyone who's ever met the guy talk about how football smart he is, and apparently he's closer to "nerd" than "jock" in his personality. With all that in mind I think Moore is better suited as a coach when it comes to X's and O's as opposed to trying to teach a position in terms of physicality. I don't know that to be true, but that's the picture I get from all this disparate data.

All I'm really hoping for more is to integrate some rub route, change things up a bit to be less predictable, and be better in the red zone (I figure the last one is the hardest). I'm not really expecting "The Greatest Show on Turf 2."

Garrett used to be an aggressive play caller and I hope he lets Moore call the game as he wants.

JG’s problem was coordinating the offense during the week and getting in the play calls too late. It led to sloppy football and false start, illegal motion/shift bonanza.

That was Linehan problem.......taking his foot off the pedal and playing second halves NOT TO LOSE. Other words, he had ZERO killer instinct. Can't remember the last game ( if any ) where we led by couple scores and pound the team into submission. This honestly where I think Moore will be different.......
Do you think Linehan acted autonomously? Do you think Moore will have more or less autonomy than Linehan had with over 13 years of OC experience?

This is great news. The stale offense was JG's doing. He should have been fired. Time to unleash Dak and let him kick ***.

The more I think about Moore the more I think he’s nothing more than a figure head.

If Garrett’s butt was truly on the hot seat why would Garrett agree to such a non proven no experienced OC. I’d say Moore is being set up as the next sacrificial lamb for Daksters demise.

Garrett’s offense has been top 10 for most of his tenure until the Dakster scaled it down.

22nd ranked behind this OL, league leading RB and WR1.
R U Kidden me. Lol

Not sure why we still have our kid gloves on for Dakster . The Honeymoon is over. He should be on the hot seat not Garrett.

Just getting rid of Linehan improves the offense.

If Moore is merely competent, the increased offensive production will make him look like a genius.

1) Linehan set a very low bar.
2) Fredbeard back. Everyone healthy. Williams bulked up. I expect dominance from the oline.
3) WRs actually set this year, high quality and deep.
4) Last year's JV TE squad now have some experience, and Witten back.
5) Pollard, Austin, Olawale as multiple run options besides Zeke. Moore might even make use of them, unlike Linehan.

Moore will have as much rope as he needs to get this offense back on track, especially scoring. Jerry's on record telling Moore if anyone ( Garrett included ) gets in the way of him implementing his offense, come see him. So yea, I honestly think they wanna see what he can do. Remember Linehan was fired for a reason........Moore has the advantage of knowing that reason. Be pretty dumb to make the same mistakes.....LOL.

I wouldn't give him credit for any offense. Romo made the offense work.
Romo definitely made the most of it. But Garrett’s offense helped develop Romo’s skill set and production. Much more than Romo had the previous season before Garrett arrived.

We can’t say it was all Romo then say it’s Garretts fault it’s not working with Prescott. Sounds like a double standard.

I do know one thing. If Moore does fix this offense other teams will be calling on him next year.
I really believe that no matter what, Garrett is gone. If Moore fixes the offense and it's a good year, Jerry will promote Moore. If it's back to Garrett's conservatism, and things don't improve, Garrett is gone and Jerry will keep Moore anyway, and call him his new, young, shining star HC.

BS..... Romo was productive before the Garrett experiment began. Romo spent most of the time calling audibles out of JG's terrible play calls. Romo made JG's offense look far better than it really was.

And the same can be said that Prescott makes Garrett’s offense look much worse than it is.

Dak makes it look closer to what it really is - mediocre. And Linehan lost his job because someone had to be the latest scapegoat to save Garrett's butt.

Those who can play the QB position, play. Those who cannot, teach. I hope that’s true for Kellens’ sake

I've said this on numerous posts on this site. As a matter of fact, l mentioned the year people were complaining about how the Pat's were pounding teams into submission and saying if was bad sportsmanship. I called it BS then and l call it BS now. If there's anything we (as Cowboys fans) should have learned over the years, it's that playing not to lose will get you beat. I don't care if you are 3 TDs ahead at half, you start the 2nd half like it's 0-0...
