Everyone pays lip service to football being a team sport, then turns around and blames the QB for everything. It's a baby's idea of how football works.

And the 2007 Cowboys were #13 in points allowed. People keep talking about that D but it was extremely average. 2014 they were #15 in points allowed. 2009 was the closest they had to having a real championship defense, but they imploded against the Vikings along with the offensive line.

For reference, here are the scoring defenses Brady won Super Bowls with: #1, #2, #5, #6, #6, #8.
Exactly. Lots of people were talking about all those probowlers in 2007, but I knew if we faced any pass attack offense we would struggle. Free passes right down the middle of the field, and it also seemed if there wasn't a sack no one was getting any kind of pressure.

Dak was one blown call away that may have cost him a chance at an NFC championship game.

Thing is you have to make the plays that put you in a winning situation. Romo didn't do that, he went for a deep pass on 4th and short instead of taking the easy first down to keep the drive moving. Even if the refs didn't over turn the catch they still had to score.
An NFL quarterback threw a long but catchable pass to a pee wee junior high high school college NFL receiver, the receiver did not catch the pass, and the quarterback is partially or completely at fault for the incompletion in your opinion--which is also shared by others. Is that correct?

Good post.

That same 2007 Dallas defense, who some people either conveniently forget or cannot comprehend in these discussions, allowed Manning and the Giants offense to drive from their 29-yard line and score a touchdown within 37 seconds before the first half ended.

New York started their drive with 47 seconds before halftime.

The game ended with New York winning by a margin of 4 points.

It has been over a decade since that game. That is an excessively long period of time for any follower of the sport to examine every reason why the team lost the game. Even so, some people still place most or entirely all blame on one player.

That is not functional application of football knowledge. In fact, it is not logical application at all.

Actually my numbers were wrong for the Patriots. Their ranks in (fewest) points allowed were:

2001: #6
2003: #1
2004: #2
2014: #8
2016: #1
2018: #7

I would suggest, chap, old boy, that Danny White, Roger, Dandy Don and Aikman endured. And they achieved with playoff wins (more than 2) and won Super Bowls!
Romo? DaK?
Both forever second-tier (but Dak needs a chance, first).

What does any of what you just typed have to do with my post?

Just curious, was it Dandy Don's 50% career completion percentage, career 74 QB rating or his almost as many picks as TD's that put him so high on your list?

You can't just compare the raw numbers for guys that played in a completely different era. Don played his entire career in the NFL's dead ball era, almost nobody had a positive TD:INT ratio then.

He was well above league average in 1962 and 1965-1968 and went to 3 straight pro bowls.

That'll be Romo's epitaph: "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda... but in the end 12-18 in games played in December and January; 0-3 in must win games to get to playoffs; and 1-3 in the playoffs."

Guy was a bum who's legend only exists on this board.

So Romo was 1-3 in the playoffs? At least make sure your facts are correct before you spew your ridiculous opinion.

Ah...ofcourse. 2-4. That's much better.

Still the record of a bum who perpetually lives in Danny White's shadow

I would say playoff wins.
White 5-5
Romo 2-3 (correct if wrong)

And White's completion average was 59.1

Yep I was so pissed. And let’s be real even if the Dez play counted there’s no telling the defense would have held up against Rodgers there was still time on clock

All that Dez play does is give those who continue to want to do what ifs a story to hold on to
Exactly, it's time to let it go. They had chances and failed.
