Jason Garrett has not been impressed by the Cowboys so far.

Dallas is set to open the preseason against the 49ers on Saturday and Garrett was asked how he felt about his team following its annual Blue-White scrimmage last weekend.

"We're way far off as a team, we're not even close," Garrett told reporters Tuesday, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I thought there were some flashes on both sides of the ball and the kicking game, flashing in each of the three units, but we're not even close. Back to work. This is an important three-day stretch for us now."

I'm not the biggest Garrett fan, but I try to be fair.

I can't even express how much I love this. With everyone talking Superbowl, NFL Top 100, All NFC teams, etc. this is exactly what a coach should be doing, especially this time of year.

Not exactly breaking new ground, but good to hear the coaches are bringing the team back down to earth, the hype has been out of control and from what I've been hearing from camp, there's plenty to improve on.

I'm just happy to not hear the usual, "I think we did some good things. We're just trying to stack good days." from Garrett.

Garrett's not wrong.

The NFL has a long off-season. Longer than pretty much any other sport. These experienced guys (with the exception of a few) are probably rusty, the others are inexperienced.

Well, one thing I noticed from the B/W scrimmage and from what they shown on NFLN it seems they are missing on a lot of deep throws.
So are some of the reporters only are tweeting the ones they hit on?
But they are hitting on the shorter passes.
and this is from all the QB's.

Seems pretty mixed to me. Or is the Defense having a good TC making the Offense not look as good.

The difference between Jimmy and Jason is that Jimmy wouldn't talk about it. Jimmy would kick some *** until the team was ready to play. I hope Jason doesn't drop the first couple of games again this season.

I like it and I hate it. I hope he's talking to the team about winning a Superbowl and telling them they we are good enough. He needs to pound it in their head. Print it in two inch letters, as Jimmy once said.

Garret's right ....... They should fire whoever's job it is to get them ready.

Oh wait ....

This cracks me up. It was what I was thinking before I read this post. The one great thing about Tom Landry, and Jimmy Johnson to some extent, (too small of a sample size) was he had the Cowboys ready and in top form in week1. The team you saw in week one was the team you saw in week 6, 9, 13, etc......

Back then there wasn't free agency so it's understandable that we see teams today take multiple weeks to get up to speed. But it wasn't that uncommon back then either. Dallas would always get out to great starts only to see other teams finally get it together as the season went on. But he had a big advantage for the first several weeks of the season.
