I want to see how Jackson fares against the ones. He's big, athletic, and hustles hard, but at least on tape at the U, he was sort of a one trick pony. Rotoworld put it best.
"Jackson plays like a rocket lacking a guidance system. He plays with force and has the pure power to blow up plays. If only he could learn how to consistently use it. He’s a hot-charger who’ll come in hot and run himself out of the play or over-pursue and takes the field without a clear plan other than destroy destroy destroy.
As a pass rusher, that played in the ACC. In the NFL, he’s not going to be able to blow fastballs by everyone. Somebody’s gotta teach him how to throw a change and curve. If that happens, he’ll be a draft day steal. If not, he’ll be a replaceable grinder."
So yeah, a Marinelli special. I can see how Jackson could beat backups with just a bull rush, but starting tackles are strong, athletic and have great technique. They're going to sit on his power moves and they won't lose a head-on strength on strength battle like some 2nd teamers will. As it stands now, he looks like one of those preseason heroes whose game won't translate into September. Rod is going to have to work on him for at least a season.
