It's not arbitrary. The fact that Dak has one year on his deal where he is making next to nothing is different than Carson Wentz who still has two years left on his deal for much more money. You can't just compare averages. By the time Wentz hits his $32 million deal in two years the percentage of the cap will be a lot lower than it is today.

So remove wentz since it’s a very specific example that misses the spirit of what I’m saying. Or realize there’s only a one yr difference not two. In general it’s a silly and misused argument.

It still applies, even moreso imo . People are comparing Dak getting $30 million a year from now vs the average salary of contracts signed 2 years ago. The cost of qb should go up around 5% per year just based on the higher salary cap.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I agree that the cost should go up with the cap, but not that every next qb up deserves either the new biggest salary, or even to necessarily beat previous contracts if he’s not as good.

Sorry but your point makes little sense. Why are the Cowboys worth 5 billion. Each team makes ~ 300 million in revenue from the TV deal alone.
There is so much money in owning a team it’s unbelievable.
I’m not even a Dak guy at all , but don’t muddy the discussion by your non related point.
How does it not make sense no guy is worth that kind of money. No one does that clear it out for you I can say it again if you'd like no one deserves that kind of money to play football

Read the statement again I don't get what you don't understand? I said what I said and I stand by it doesn't matter how much the team makes the team is not owned by one player

But the owner "deserves" to rake in billions on the backs of the players? You can say "no" if you like, but the money is there regardless.

Yes I'm well aware that the money is there if he had read my post a little bit better I don't have a lot of confidence in Prescott being 830 Million Dollar Man

However being a Cowboy fan I will back anybody that plays for us to a certain point someone else just mention here that maybe there's some collusion going on between the three of them see what kind of money they can the Dallas Cowboys have been burned by these big contracts in the past and maybe they finally woken up and realize they can't do that ? Now I know that saying a lot considering were talking about Jerry Jones but anything is possible with him

And actually you made a good point you really did so why not pay college players when did NCAA and the college's reap all the money from the players?

My apologies, my last point was a bit off-topic. Think I'm talking in circles at this point. I still think including the average of years left on the current deal is important if the player has to play it out before the extension. If Dak signs a 4-year extension today, he is under contract for 5 total years for that amount of money. It's the most accurate number.

How do you define someone's value in an open market? I can't believe I'm in a position to defend Dak of all people. I think we should not pay him one cent more than Nick Foles. But I will never take ownerships side over the players side when it comes to player value.
I dont think Stafford, Jimmy G, Wentz, Flacco, Mariotta, etc,etc... are worth the contracts they signed. We live in a quasi free market system in the NFL and the players are going to get the contract that they get.

The problem with that is Title IX. You can't just pay the football team. You'll have to pay the athletes playing sports that don't make money too, including the women's teams. The end result would be a lot less opportunities - scholarships - for athletes in other sports.

So we should do as the Vikings and throw good money after bad?

No?

He was saying his deal would just edge out Cousins. I was pointing out that cousins took a lot less than his proposal.

Man stop putting up that kind of stuff. Trying to give a brother nightmares or what? That movie freaks me out until now...yikes...

I hear you brother, I am the same way. Even though the original Exorcist was shot back in the 70s, that movie still freaks me out till this day.

Sometimes at night when I am channel surfing Direct TV I will come across some channel showing old movies from the 70s and 80s and the Exorcist is always one of them. I seriously have to change the channel immediately, I cant watch that movie again, just cant do it.

Especially the scene where Linda Blair is turning her head all the way around like an owl...………….dam, getting goose bumps just typing that, LOL.

Dallas should leak that owners are pushing for max contracts at 25m in the CBA. I bet that’s get Dak running to the table.

Dang it. I knew I should have gone with a mini-clip of Gary and the couch scene from John Carpenter's The Thing instead. :(
