Dumb move caving in to Zeke. Just watch, other key players are going to start doing the same even if they have years left on their contracts. Terrible precedent to set in motion.
Well they better be the best in the league at their position because that’s the only reason this worked for Zeke. He is the best. Dallas wants to be a physical team, and Elliott is the most physical RB in the NFL. He’s worth the money.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Man folks in this thread don't realize the average yearly salary means hardly anything.

It is always fun to watch people who don't understand math try to interpret numbers.
It is even more fun to watch snooty math nerds try to explain things.

It was dumb, but if they didn’t sign Zeke , they would be losing one player and killing production from another. Zeke not signing would not only hurt at the RB position, but it also limits Dak a lot more than it would if Dallas had another QB.

Uh huh. Not happening. Wouldn't this year be the year to hold out? He's playing for how much this year? 500k!?
Exactly, because Dak has class and respect. He easily could hold out. If he did, this season would be over before it even started. Good thing Dak is not pulling a Zeke, which actually would have been at this time last year when Dak still had 2 years left on his rookie contract.

What if LVE holds out next year when he will still have years left on his contract? Will you be ok with that? What if other players start doing that as well?

Chandler Jones. The Patriot way works. Pay the ones you need to and move the others for picks you don't need.
The Patriots are also much more effective at coaching pass rushers than we are. Patriots way only works when you have the resources they do. We dont. We trade Lawrence and we are back to guys like Jeremy Mincey and George Selvie

Dak won't hold out, LVE won't hold out end of story. Zeke has the obvious leverage.

It's funnier seeing some not understand the bad precedent Jerry is setting by caving in to players who hold out and demand top positional league pay when they still have years left on their current contract.

Oh boy. The "years left on the contract bs"

This is the norm for players who outperform their deals. You get a new deal done.

There is a precedent throughout this league for that.

Ok, they are not better at coaching pass rushers, that is just silly to say.

Really? No other key player has the leverage? I can think of 1... and more important to the team.

Good thing Dak has respect, does not hold out or demand a new top overall position pay contract with years still left on his current one.
$40 million a year is top overall position pay.

Faulk and Elliott share agents. Faulk said on the Rich Eisen show that Elliott’s holdout will last into the season....

So speaks the poster with a handle that goes by Zekeats. lol

Keep believing that Zeke is the only one who has leverage.
Listen, Im not much of a fan of his anymore, you could read recent posts about that, but I do go by things called facts and the fact is we have a really good team ready to make a huge run and the guy who this offense runs around had a perfect time to hold out to get paid regardless how much of an idiot he has been and regardless how much the owner has looked out for him. He has the leverage and it is obvious or else if it wasn't a deal would not be getting done.

If Zeke isn't the highest paid RB in the league, than I would say Dallas won the negotiations. Zeke was holding out to be the highest paid back in the league. Reports are, it's less than Gurley, so therefore not the highest paid back. I would be happy if Zeke is signed for less than 14 million a year.

I get your point but if the contract isn't highest paid than Cowboys won.

This would be a win, win for both Cowboys AND Zeke. Zeke gets his new deal although he still has two years left on the old one. Cowboys save $$$$ by NOT having to pay more than Gurley like Stephen originally promised.
