I think Jerry deserves some credit for seeing this through. I’d critique him for dragging the drama out.

I’m pleased we signed him and still have a pretty good sense on what Jerry is going to do.

And this doesn’t guarantee we’re winning anything more from here. But it does provide us a better opportunity. At this point that’s all we can hope for.
The only problem I had with this whole charade was the Jones boys public verbal posturing. Stephen said, “We’re not going to set the market”, then they did. Jerry public bravado was in the end just a windbag of nothing. Typical actually.

8 years at 103 mil 50 guaranteed. And we havent seen the structure sit. Averaged out that's under 13 mil a year. The guaranteed I believe includes the next 2 years of his rookie deal as well. His actual contact doesnt even start until 2021/22 when the new CBS starts and the salary will have jumped at least 20 mil. By then his 12.9 wont look like much and his 50 lol guaranteed probably has suspension ok n clauses and escape clauses that's what I mean about the WHOLE contract. Dont look at the initial numbers its ALWAYS misleading. Just sounds good lol!

Its not 8 years 103 Million. The extension was 6 years 90 million. We already had him under contract for those additional two years. Fans are so easily fooled into thinking that the adding the remaining contract in should make us feel better about the AAV.

So what you're saying is that.... well no real clue.

Every single contract has suspension clauses lol

As I said he set new RB records in total contract, AAV, guarantees, and new money. Is there ANYTHING he didnt set record highs in the WHOLE contract?

I can’t imagine fans who didn’t think we were going to sign him which meant making him the highest paid RB.

The rest was just jockeying for position in negotiations.

Some of us thought they'd sign him, but didn't want to sign him to what he was asking merely due to his off-the-field behavior risks.

Ok guy lol!. Like I said wait until the actual numbers and contract setup is out. It isnt any of our money anyway so it really doesnt matter at all!. But like I said it's all about the g uhh guaranteed. I can sign you to a 3 year 60 million dollar deal it looms like a lo/ and sounds like alot but if I say 25 is guaranteed THAT is all that I have to give you

Lol "it's not our money" of course it's not ITS OUR SALARY CAP.

Your comment- "we didnt bend over bacnkward"
Me- what didnt we bend over backward on we set new records in all applicable contract details. Including guaranteed money
You- "it's all about the guaranteed money"(which we know is $50M and the most to any RB) *no comment of what we didnt bend over*

Lol okay guy.

Jerry only gave him 12 something a year. A lot less than he initially wanted.

If the Cowboys dont win a SB under this contract with Zeke it will go down as the worst mistake JJ has made in his tenure as owner.
Although Jimmy Johnson bears some degree of responsibility himself, the inability to make personal concessions, make the relationship work and retain a two-time Super Bowl winning head coach is Jerry Jones' worst mistake. And when I say worst mistake, I mean worst mistake in his entire life.

To be fair Zeke could have set aside his ego and it would have been done sooner as well. They compromised and came to an agreement. I'm cool with it!

This could have been resolved much earlier if he’d set his ego aside.

We knew where this headed when we set the Gurley contract as the starting point in negotiations.

I’ll give Stephen credit for seeing this thru and Jerry finally signing off on it. I felt pretty good this was going to happen before season begun but the drama dragging out wasn’t necessary . Almost seemed intentional by Big Daddy.

Now we can get the Dak deal done.

Maybe so but it ended better than how Pitt dealt with Bell or Houston with Clowney. Seems in the end Jerry and Stephen step up and get it done and others fail to do so.

knee jerk Jerry bashing. The reality is none of us know the specifics of this situation.

It's like fans forget what occurs with negotiations.
Both sides square off to get the best contract. They don't give in early because that's a part of the process.
You give in early, you lose.
Couple that with the fact that Zeke doesn't want to be in training camp. Few players do.
So he waited and waited until the season approached. Jerry, meanwhile, is talking like he can live without Zeke.
But he knows the Cowboys aren't going to be as good a team and as MARKETABLE a team without Zeke.
Zeke, even if he were in camp, wouldn't play that much in the preseason. But the REGULAR season, oh, he needs Zeke to be in uniform.
That's how the league promotes teams, through its players. Zeke is the star right now. He is the center of attention for the Cowboys. No, it's not Dak. No, it's not Amari.
IT'S ZEKE!!!!!
So they finally get a deal done on the eve of the first game.
Yeah, color me shocked. :rolleyes::laugh:

Lol exactly what I thought. You know nothing.

Bottom line is you didn't know what you were talking about, and still don't. Making up escape hatches, now that's cute.

Couldnt come up with a single number or detail.. that's just sad! And having to copy exactly what Mike Fisher says, double sad!!
