JJ is a great business man. And one can argue that he is a good owner. However, he is not a football guy. He is a wanna be GM.
Until cowboys find a real football minded GM, with good talent evaluating skills, cowboys will never win another SB.

Jerry clearly cares more about selling merchandise and tickets than in fielding a competitive football team.

Will McClay is the GM..he just gets zero glory and credit. THAT goes to the Jones boys. He is paid extremely well..to do a job and he does it very well. PART of his job is to not talk and let the Egotistical Jones boys take all the credit. MY issue is something we can fix easily. FIRE MARINELLI this changing the scheme, THEN firing Garrett..changing at least SOME of the built in losing culture around here. We can fix that.

Need to get a Fletcher Cox or Aaron Donald type for the middle of the line. Need to get cornerbacks and safeties who play the ball and get takeaways. Need to use a scheme whose main objective is to stop opponents, not let them march down the field.

agree. All the good Dallas defenses have had that beast DT in the middle. You make a good point.Collins isn't that guy and I don't think Hill is. He can barely get onto the field.

I'd even settle for a Sheldon Richardson or a Linval Joseph or Snacks Harrison. Notice how all the best defenses start up front with that nose tackle, not with defensive ends and linebackers.

all the SB caliber teams we have had have been very stout in the middle. Stepnoski at Center, Hennings,Russell Maryland/LEON LETT, GREAT LINEBACKERS like Ken Norton and Robert Jones etc, and safety Woodson, James Washington..Ray Horton..those guys were all good. Scott Case... I am only using examples from the 90's...but you get the picture. ^^those guys^^ were hw we stopped the run first and foremost. Now fast forward to this team. WE ARE weakest down the middle with 1 exception...Fred Beard. everyone else has been subpar. Coincedence that THOSE are the areas teams attack us? WE SEE THIS...and I have a hard time believing the coaches and owner do not. Unless we make a huge blockbuster trade for a stud DT...this is what we can expect this year..getting gashed early and often up the gut.

agree...ANY of them. Linval Joseph would be my pick.He's a nasty run stuffer and gets pocket push . SOMETHING we don't have.

true..not talking about that..I mean right in the gut over center. If you notice, that's where we get killed. take a pencil and draw a straight line from Fredbeard all the way back to our safety. THOSE are our weakest spots on the team.I only use Frederick as a starting point. Hes been special..his old self again. He isn't the issue. The issue is next to him at LG if we wanna expand things. Connor Williams isn't the answer. I know I take heat for this..but he has been a weakpoint.

HOW COULD I FORGET..BILLY BATES lol..he was a tough SOB at safety too. Ya'll know how I feel about him..hes that lunch pail guy that just gets it done back in the day. he was great on special teams too. He reminds me of Witten Defensively... under appreciated because you just always expected him to do his job..which he did. THOSE are the guys that win championships. NOT the household names like Zeke and Dak...its those dudes in the guts of the oline and dline , on back..that win. Is it any wonder why we cannot get over the hump? We didn't solve the DT problem in the draft..we STILL haven't solved the safety issue...and frankly, our linebackers have been a huge disappointment. Thomas has been a bright spot and should get more PT.

I see that stated about Jerry a lot and it seems just as ridiculous every time I see it. Merchandise and ticket sales are chump change to a guy like Jerry Jones.

We all understang that. But its worth pointing out that by Jerry conducting business (football business) per Hazey's detailed post, he is effectively giving all Cowboy fans the finger. We the fans continue to hold him accountible. I have redirected my sports dollars into other local sports teams.
