If Garrett isn’t back next season it won’t be a firing because his contract will be up. He would have to lose his job during this season for it to be a firing.

I think Folks need to get off the Lincoln Riley train. Simple question, why would Riley come to the Cowboys? Riley makes 6 mil per year, plus performance incentive bonus. He is at a Power House Program where he calls all the shots. He can be there for as long as he wants, assuming he finishes at the top of the Big 12 consistently, which is not a high bar for OU. Why would he come to the NFL where he has significant pressure to win and could be out of a job in a few seasons? Why would he put up with the BS Pro Players bring, why would he do all that goes along with being a Pro Coach and all for what could easily be less money?
I agree. and there is precedence for coaches, at his level of college success that came to NFL and failed. the Ole ball coach got lured to Commanders and flat out sucked, failed and never saw any success. Kelly, who was hot hot hot, got to NFL, was given the red carpet treatment and failed. even the great Saban failed at NFL level and only one so far going back to college finding success.

not only that, I have said it, I am not hot on Riley. given there really hasn't been any coach who came to NFL and found success, specially a team that's apparently super bowl ready...why bring in Riley to spend a couple of years at least for him to learn the ways of NFL.....he and his offense will not be revolutionizing the NFL....I scratch my head anytime I hear that.....

we need to find the next hot assistant coach. not sure who. not sure where. but a coach from NFL ranks.

btw, I am not that impressed with Richard, so he can go take the Commanders job.

The Dallas Cowboys will WIN the Super Bowl this season. That’s a fact !!

See how anyone could take an opinion and state it as a fact ??? No matter how ludicrous it may sound..
Just because you or I say it .. doesn’t make it a fact ..
if I had to choose between facts (Fiction), I like yours better.

Sorry Cowboy fans but Jason Garrett is Jerry’s Tom Landry.
Even Jerry Jones has a breakeven point. That said, I agree with you, which is why I do not believe Jones will fire Garrett for many of the conditions already stated by others.

For example, I believe Garrett's job is actually safe simply if the team reaches the divisional round of the playoffs. That means (in my opinion) Dallas can lose in the divisional round or win in the divisional round and lose in the conference championship round and Jones will still offer Garrett a new extension.

Dallas isn't going to the playoffs.. Thoughts?

I like hypotheticals, I'll play.

Going off on a whim here, Dallas gets beat down by the Jets, Jerry's knee jerks and Jason gets fired.

Richard then comes in as interim HC, coasts along the remainder of the year..and gets the lock as HC. He them keeps most of the staff in tact, but brings in Dan Quinn as his DC.

Again, playing hypotheticals and sticking close to what Dallas typically does. Just my $.02.

You don't think we can improve that ranking?

I do.

I truly don't. This team doesn't adjust nor make changes. Plus this defense looks at themselves and says: "This is okay because they don't have anyone to replace me and they don't have the guts to cut me". They have nothing on the line, so why would they put in the work to improve? JG won't do anything, Richard won't do anything, Rod won't do anything. It appears that improving is not likely.

Dallas isn't going to the playoffs. That's a fact. If we want to go into the playoffs, it would take a miracle by Philadelphia to tank. The NFC is simply too loaded for us to get into a WC spot. Here are the likely/predicted NFC playoffs.

1. NO
2. SEA
3. PHI
4. GB
5. SF (49ers)
6. Lions/Rams/Carolina/Bucs/Vikings/Bears

This would obviously mean Dallas is knocked out of contention. JG will likely be fired. Who would replace him? I know there are swirling rumors of Lincoln Riley, but I severely doubt he'd leave Oklahoma. We all heard the Payton rumors last year, and he signed an extension with NO just a few months ago. In addition to that, JJ (unfortunately) likes to hire from the inside, however, we don't have many personnel that could handle that job. Kellen is a rookie OC, aka, not ready for HC. Richard is a potential candidate, however, some teams are still trying to snag him, plus we aren't very high on him as is (which wouldn't stop JJ anyways). Rod is too old and likely wouldn't take the job any ways. Who else is there? McCarthy is still available I have heard. I'm not too familiar on any other coaches possibly available. Thoughts?
Season over already? IM out then see ya next year.

That may be best. I want as little people to see the slaughtering of this team as possible. The 2nd half of this season is going to be a bloodbath if they play anything like they have lately, which appears likely since this team doesn't adjust or change, nor does it look disciplined enough to make changes for themselves.

Dallas not going to the playoffs this season is your opinion. When you present your opinion as fact, you lose your reader because you are insulting their intelligence. There is no reason to continue reading at that point.

The only reason is ego and to prove he can coach at that level. He's got a bird's nest on the ground at OU in a conference that doesn't demand both sides of the ball and he will not make more money. And as long as the transfer portal remains, he will not have to worry about QB.

That's what drove Saban and Spurrier to the NFL, they'd won a championship, now to add to the resume. Show their chops at the top level. Spurrier would have left earlier if not for the money, 5M at that time was tops.

Why would any good successful HC want the headache of the NFL and fatality rate of 20-25% every year and patience at an all time low. Ego is the only reason I can think of, he wants to prove something to himself and others.

jay gruden. he's already coached for danny Snyder who is worse than jerry ever was. plus he's a very good offensive minded coach. and yes, i'm being serious.

Dallas has 2 losses and tied for first with 11 weeks left in the regular season.

I'm going to be kind by not bringing up your thread to toss you under the bus at the end of the season. It's what Cowboys fans do for one another. But then again....:muttley:
