Sunday night's game showed exactly why ANY player on the Dallas Cowboys should use any leverage they have to force the Joneses to pay them.
Ezekiel Elliott knew that he might struggle at times, and the history of the Cowboys under Garrett shows that, more often than not, the Cowboys will tank and someone will have to take the blame.
Garrett isn't about to, and Elliott replaced DeMarco Murray, who had been a league leading rusher since coming to the Cowboys and playing out his rookie contract.
So now it's easy to discount how good Elliott is because so many fans don't understand the complexities of a run game and blocking schemes, and the Cowboys desire to be a pass happy team is obvious.
Elliott is a star. He plays like one.
But even he can't overcome the perennial mediocrity that the Cowboys have repeatedly proven to suffer under the Garrett/Jones "Let's try this" philosophy.

LOL

He's barely broken a tackle this year, and he's now about as quick as a fullback.

He's woefully inferior to McCaffrey, Cook, and other guys.

I think he's gone after two more seasons, and I'm somebody who has stated multiple times that he's the heart of this team.

Perhaps he is. And that doesn't speak well of the heart of this team.

Zeke has not looked good but the run blocking has not been good either. Connor Williams is still weak, Frederick is not all the way back from his autoimmune disease, and Martin has been battling injuries. We have grown accustomed to these positions being a strength and they are pretty average on the season and were horrible against Minny.

Lol his play is exactly why we SHOULDNT have paid him.

does anyone here not think that Pollard could have done just as good this year if not better at running the ball? He’s got some speed. Now as far as blocking is concerned I’m sure zeke is much better than pollard would be.

Yes our line is struggling and plenty of plays where zeke gets no chance but man zeke just looks slow. But we still got 6 games left, he’s got time to get better

Never pay RB's that kind of money. He's going to hit the wall in a year. Then we're forked.

Yeah. Especially if you're a knucklehead who is out of shape, not real bright, and plays w/o heart. Better get paid before they discover you're not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elliot has the skills to be top 5, but I'm not sure he's ever going to come close to it again.

The line hasn’t been as strong as years passed, Kellen is running a much more pass oriented attack now, and Zeke’s backup is eating up a lot of his opportunities that didn’t happen before:

he’s still the best RB in the national football league, even if this isn’t his best year

I thought you were just going to say he was right to do it because it worked. When has Jerry ever not blinked when a star in his prime stood up to him?

I still wish they'd handled him like the Chargers did Gordon, though I know that would never happen.

Blame JG as much as you want but it is all on Zeke.He is not worth that money not even 1/4 of it.

So it's on Zeke because the FO were stupid for giving him a high contract?

Just because a big contract is dished out doesnt mean the pressure is on said player.

It just means that the FO are packed full of idiots, and that there are teams out there that if they were in the cowboys shoes, wouldnt have given Zeke a pot to piss in when it came to contract.

You guys need to know that the cowboys are the ones who folded on a declining players.

What is all on Zeke?

How many yards and TD did he run for last year?
How many yard and TD is he on pace for this year?

Oh are we still pretending all the good games didn't happen again?
Are we still pretending all the film study done on the last game did't show the OL had their arses kicked just like they did against the rams?

While we are pretending can we also pretend some people here have the ability to look beyond the surface level stats.

If Zeke does the rest of his career what he is doing this year he is in the HOF.

Well the opposite can be argued. Teams should play hardball because players who get paid tend to fall off from what they get paid for.
Ezekiel is not what he one was, even he admits to that, but hey he got paid so no harm in that

He’s gotta get some weight off and start running to daylight that’s for sure.

Whoever encouraged him to bulk up like he has should be gone.

I always hear him talking about hitting his marks as a runner too. Stop hitting whatever mark these coaches told you to hit and rely on your instincts and head to daylight please.
