If the premise is could there be an owner so dumb he'd be willing to hire the failed experiment named garret, I suppose it could happen. I don't know why, but it's possible.
That would depend on why he felt the experiment failed.
I have a theory, actually lots of them, but one specifically on this Garrett's attractiveness to other owners/GM's. Booger is an egotistical narcissist and they are most in their element when around others they see as contemporaries, in this case, the other owners. He's also a motor mouthed narcissist, the worst kind, and can't keep from trying to impress all of these other guys, that never played the game, just how much he knows about football. In doing so, he reveals just how much he's involved in areas they would never tread because they hire people to do that.
So, they see Garrett as this well spoken guy that presents himself well but really hasn't been a HC like they've had working for them. He's had one arm tied behind his back, particularly in dealing with players.
cern, go back to when Garrett first took over, what did he do? He changed the dress code and Barber defied him and what happened? But what do you think would have happened if Booger wasn't the players' buddy? He would have benched him for a half like Jimmy and Bill would have done when a player wants to play "who's the boss". How would Garrett, if not with Booger, handled Owens, Hardy and Bryant?
Booger, as GM has made the greatest failing of his job, failing to establish his HC's authority. Anyone think he's going to do that for the next one? Parcells forced his hand because he knew what would happen and he still did an end run with Owens taking him to breakfast every week so his feelings wouldn't be hurt.
I think the majority of owners in the NFL know exactly what the problem is with the Cowboys and Garrett's not it.
