Typical click-bait/trigger article, aimed at the NY/NJ fan-base.

Two bottom-feeder teams in the area (NYG/NYJ), both with HCs on the hot-seat.

Expect more of this kinda stuff.

Two that come to mind are Bill Belichick and Sean Payton who were not great HCs or OC (Sean Payton) but did great with other teams

I was thinking more like Pete Carroll, but Carroll went and honed himself on the college level before returning to the pros. I think Belichick has more football smarts than Garrett will ever have, but the right GM/coordinators might could help him at least accomplish more than he has here. He's got to see the need for him not to be the X and O's guy IMO in order to stand a chance ... or some GM has to make him understand that.

This is so obviously a story planted by the Giants organization.

They are worried that Jerry may be looking elsewhere, trying to play into his fear that all the time he took in training Garrett would be a reward that another team would reap.

Don't fall for it Jerry!!

That’s a win - win if there ever was one.

Personally I think Garrett is finished as a NFL HC when he gets fired.

Schumer is up on Capitol Hill trying to convince people open borders are wonderful, the country doesn't need law enforcement, and socialism is the best thing for America unfortunately the Giants can't fire him.

I assume you're referring to Shurmur, and he isn't going anywhere.

I wouldn't care the least wherever and whatever team he goes to - once Garrett departs from here, should that happen ..and that includes NFC East ( Giants, Skins)

let him prove his worth was far beyond what Cowboys, media and their fan base thought,

What will shock people is that a lot of teams will be interested, and he may very well be successful once he leaves Jerry's circus tent act.
Yeah, he doesn't have top to bottom roster of pro bowlers here. That's what he needs to succeed. Good luck in NYG with thst

If things align just right, could Jason Garrett wind up coaching the Giants next season?

It’s certainly possible.

And if Giants co-owner John Mara fires coach Pat Shurmur, he absolutely should pursue Garrett, who is in the final year of his contract. Garrett ought to be Mara’s top priority.

First, Shurmur’s situation: He is 2-8 this season, sliding on a six-game losing streak, and has a 7-19 record in a season-plus with the Giants. He has three years left on his contract after 2019. But if the rebuilding Giants don’t show progress down the stretch, he should be out.

Just imagine this fanbase if this happened.
  • It would begin with an exuberant cheer.
  • Then the call for OK fans wanting Riley.
  • Then the new coach and the anointing of Cowboy fans exclaiming that the team is a contender.
Then when the Giants start winning the narrative would be:
  • Dallas should have extended Garrett
  • Dallas will have to tank to get players
  • Why me?

Then if the Giants win the Superbowl, Dallas fans would be jumping off of bridges.

Garrett winning with the Giants may be the best thing to ever happen to the Cowboys franchise. Jerry would have no choice but to acknowledge he’s the problem.

so you’re saying Jerry will never have to acknowledge that then?
