He hasn't been a home run hitter since after college, I think its about time we stop expecting flashy 80 yard runs.
1. I don't "expect" long runs, certainly not from Zeke.
2. Who said anything about 80 yard runs? How about 20 yard runs?
3. If you're not getting long runs, and you're not getting a huge influence in the passing game, why are you paying so much for your RB?

LOL let's take a look at this

https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/stat/rushing/table/rushing/sort/rushingYards/dir/desc

Every single RB talked about in the conversation as being the leagues best has a long TD run. Zeke is the only one with a longest run below 30 yards. He hasn't taken a long one to the house since his rookie season.

McCaffrey - 84 yarder
Cook - 75 yarder
Fournette - 81 yarder
Mack - 61 yarder
Barkley - 59 yarder

Zeke is 54th on that list with a 27 as his long. To make it even more embarrassing, look where Zeke is ranked on the amount of 20+ yard runs he's had on the season

So, maybe he shouldn't go to Cabo next year. The again, we just paid him generational wealth. So why should he care?

This was a problem before Cabo.

I expect his off the field problems to escalate. Zeke has never faced any real criticism in his career, has gotten everything he wanted - pampered, got the girls, have people calling him this generations best RB....

Well, a lot of these people who loved him will start to disappear as his star dies. If he can't compose himself when he had everything, it won't look so good when he's crashing.

I think he still "wants to" but he clearly did not prepare for this season in the right way and its cost him some quickness and a step.

i liked derrick henry coming out of the draft. he's a very good back to have.

that said, zeke is a more complete back.

when zeke gets the ball in space, he makes plays. he moves piles and fights for extra yardage. he does a great job on blitz pickups.

we don't do zeke any favors with our play calling.

Highest paid runningback ever should just produce, all those guys ahead of him do it.

Henry has done this more the past 2 years than Zeke.

I'm not convinced.

2016: Longest run 60, 3 runs of 40+, 5 runs of 30+, 14 runs of 20+
2017: Longest run 30, 0 runs of 40+, 1 run of 30+, 5 runs of 20+ (10 games)
2018: Longest run 41, 1 run of 40+, 3 runs of 30+, 11 runs of 20+
2019: Longest run 27, 0 runs of 40+, 0 runs of 30+, 1 run of 20+ (11 games)

He might bounce back a bit, but the overall trend is not good.

But there is more to it than that.

In 2017 he had the suspension and Dallas had the Chaz Green debacle game where teams started selling out against the short game.

2018 was when we had no WRs for half the season and everyone keyed on our short game. We also a rookie OG, a ton of injuries to Tyron and Martin and the problems (like Collins) with the change to Paul Alexander.

This year we are a run first team leading the NFL is passing, the offense is different and some teams are scheming to take Zeke out of the game plan. Plus Zeke missed all of training camp and Dallas clearly treated their first two regular season games like preseason.

I wouldn't argue a dropoff, but there is a lot of things going on when you look at those numbers.

It was nice seeing Ewok working for what he's getting paid to do. Unfortunately, that's not the same for Garrett nor Marinelli.

First lil Matty slurped on David Johnson. Hes exposed. Then it was the great Saquan. Hes an afterthought. Now its Derrick Henry. lol running out of backs. I want to say you hyped up Gurley too. Youre not worth me going back digging up old threads though. Goofy

notice how whenever Zeke gets on a roll he pulls himself out of the game. There is no way he should be on the sideline catching his breath when we are in the rezone.

his conditioning is garbage.

I love how my criticism of Zeke has come true, and you constantly bring up David Johnson without context.

Back in 2016, I mentioned the type of RB I would want - I want a good runner with great receiving abilities - David Johnson (along with Bell) were the best examples at the time. Your argument is invalid and it ends here. I favor a RBBC approach.

I was right about Zeke, dude has no speed, no burst, can't break tackles, can't get 20+ yard runs consistently anymore, can't take it to the house, is an average receiver....

Sure, there's always more going on. But there is definitely evidence of a decline and I believe there's very little evidence to support him being the best RB in the NFL or worth the contract he's received on into the future.
