I will punch myself in the face if we hire McDaniels.

He's a meathead, an idiot, an unmitigated egomaniac. That dipwad thought he was so much smarter than anyone else when he used a first round pick on Tim Tebow.

Then he went straight douchey when he backed out of the Colts job after taking it (which turned out to be a blessing as Reich is probably a better coach anyway).

...McDaniels would be interesting. I can see him taking the job on a 1 or 2 yr deal.

I would be fine with either one, but obviously Urban Meyer would be the #1 choice by quite a bit.

I think the Broncos gave McDaniels too much power, giving him control over everything, that won't happen in Dallas. However, I worry a bit about having a guy like JG, who only really controls one side of the ball. I don't think McDaniels has any experience on the defensive side of the ball.

He should fire his agent if he signs a 1 year deal. Coming off the debacle that was the Indy experience, maybe that would be just par for the course.

Why not get paid for 5 years if you are going to get canned after a year or two?

I think McDaniels would be a great choice. I think he's learned and matured.
Could be another Pete Carroll.

Pete Carroll had WAY more experience as a HC when he took over in Seattle and won.

McDaniel, like most Belichick assistants, is just a product of that environment. Once you take those guys out of the warm embrace of Foxboro and Belichick, they fall on their face............. Crennel, Weis, McDaniel, Mangini, see it with the Patricia in Detroit. O'Brien and Vrabel are probably two that are moderately successful in the NFL from the Belichick coaching tree, but neither is great by any stretch - basically Garrett types. So typically, they just don't succeed once they leave NE.

I like Urban Meyer too. But I’m not sure he would agree to the kind of interference that’s baked into the cake here.

Plus, is he ready for the talent leveling he never experienced when he was Ohio State and Florida? When he lined up on Saturdays at OSU, he had an enormous talent advantage he won’t experience in the NFL. It’s a major adjustment for guys like Saban and Meyer who aren’t used to opponents being as good or better in talent.

Would he be Pete Carrol, who has proven to be great at both CFB and the NFL or Nick Saban who is great in CFB but was an NFL flop?
