Is there another 'name' for you that would ease your concerns?

The only two outside of Meyer that I would feel good about are Belichick and Payton, and I don't think they could get either one.

Riley or Rhule. I never paid attn to Rhule, but like everything I’ve heard others say

What would you think then?

Would it be a big deal with you or not?

Would you be happy because you didn't want the guy in the first place?

Would you be saddened that they missed out on the best candidate?

For me, if all of this smoke doesn't materialize in his hiring I will be extremely disappointed and resigned to the fact that Jerry Jones would not make the needed concessions and loosening of his death grip.

Despite the joy of Garrett being gone, I will worry about just more of the same with a new name rather than actual change in this team.

What say you all?
You and @Redball Express keep throwing them out until one sticks! Good for you !!!

Oh, just to comply with the Rooney rule? Obviously he's not even a candidate for interim much less the head coach job.
I know. I am saying he will be interviewed. Jesus I want Tomlin to come in. Look at what he has done with Pittsburgh with no QB, RB, and losing the best WR in the game lol. We cant win if our LB misses time.

I do wonder if he and Jerry would make it through a full season together.

It would tell us all we need to know either way. And The Meyer Legend would grow even more as the man who told Jerry Jones what he could go and do to himself.

Which Payton do you guys keep referring to? Assuming it's not the same guy who just reupped for 5 years with the Aints in September...you think they would trade him to Dallas if Jerry asked?

Defense and ST need an overhaul. That may not be fair if Richard is being held back by Marinelli but I don't care about that. We need 1 philosophy that everyone understands and buys into.

As for offense, I think Moore is too inexperienced to be calling plays. He's smart and is learning but he needs help. At the very least we need a more qualified/ experienced offensive assistant to help Moore and the same for the Colombo with the OL.

I'm very much aligned with that. If they kept Moore and Kitna, I'd like a strong Meyer influence to join the group. Maybe a guy like Ed Warriner to coach the offensive line and help with the running game and to teach things the way Meyer prefers.

As for the rest? They can all go.

If he walks away? I wouldn't be surprised because I can't see him actually taking this job in the first place.

Yes, he sounded like he meant it on the Cowherd show. But when you get down to brass tacks, I'm not sure if he'd really want to be an NFL coach. He can probably have any college job in the country if he wants it. And while it's most been claimed out of convenience, maybe he really does have health problems that could keep him from taking any job again.

Probably not! Funny though, he was a favorite up and comer of mine pre-Carolina!

I can't hate that idea. As much as I would fear it and worry that we'd simply be getting more of the same and Jerry's meddling. I think it would simply be the Wade Phillips era all over again. Hire a guy to fix your defense and hope he can be the head coach too.

It depends on who they hire instead.

Meyer is my #1 choice.

But I could understand if they hired Riley. Riley is a potentially risky hire. But hiring a young “offensive genius” makes sense and I think would be a legit hire.

I think Lincoln Riley as HC and getting a DC like Ron Rivera would be a heck of a coaching hire. And would have the potential to be really successful.

hiring a coach like Matt Rhule. Would also be a good hire.

But if they were to say hire somebody from in house? I would hate it.

He's a good coach and players seem to like him...has dealt with personalities...but I agree he would be kind of the guy Jerry brings in that lets him have his say while he quietly coaches. He seems smart but laid back for a D guy. I mean Riverboat Ron was kind of a joke name because he was so conservative to start. I'm not saying I want a screamer, etc but when I see some of the young guys lay into players, etc...it kind of moves the needle for me. It's the one thing I like about Urban...players listen to him and he seems like the type that doesn't put up with bs. Well maybe he ignores things outside football but he's not a fool.
