I think that is what tomorrow's meeting is going to be. Negotiations towards a buyout. Neither side can make any move with him under contract until the 14th

Not sure that makes any sense.

The Cowboys could fire him right now if they wanted to.

Or, they could let the contract run its term to the 14th. I’m almost positive they’ve probably given him the okay to take calls/negotiate while still under contract.

LOL

What a strange prediction.

I’m going to say no, I don’t think the holdup is due to negotiations to buy out the last two weeks of a contract on a lame duck coach who’s a millionaire and been on the coaching staff for 10+ years.

Im still worried that Jerry wants Jason here! This is just ridiculous not to let him go unless your thinking about keeping him or you dont want it on Garretts resume that he has never been fired.

You are probably right about permission. However it would be a very bad look on the organization to fire him with so little of his contract left

There is nothing to buy out. The contract is pretty much done.
No need to buy out 2 weeks don’t think.
Jerry is just a sentimental crybaby. He needs to man up and just throw the baby out the window.

Why not just release him from his contract? It accomplishes the same thing

Just a heads up you guys: If they part ways today, Im going to find and use any evidence I can to claim he was bought out. No matter how comically shameful and inaccurate.

If Jones murders Garrett today.....definite buyout

why? just end the contract and report that it was set for the 14th in case they made a good run in the playoffs. hell just say there was an escalator clause in it that if we didn't get to the playoffs the contract was over at the end of the last game

we're all anxious to move on and know our new direction. i know i am anyway. but if it takes another day or two to get it done, great. but the hand wringing and garrett stays scenarios are getting comical at this point.

The Garrett stays possibility ain't comical. Slater said it on the NFL channel last evening, there's a chance Garrett survives. Don't underestimate the close ties between the Jones' and the Garretts.

Coaches contracts are guaranteed. They can fire him today and just pay the remaining 2 weeks salary.

I think JJ is having second thoughts.
